I think Cobra was appropriate for Froch. He fought upright, and had a spitting menacing style and he lunged into shots.

Big George was a good one as George was big.

Smokin Joe was appropriate as Joe was usually smoking or being smoked.

    Smoke Gainer was totally inappropriate.

Hercules Weaver was appropriate as Mike was massive by the standards of the day.

In Derricks defense his career did go up in smoke.

I remember an interview with Froch where he said the Cobra nickname was chosen literally only because of the alliteration with his first name, and that he shared no similarities at all with the animal in fighting style, etc.

I heard if you go down to Sherwood Forest and sit cross legged amongst the shrubbery and play a tune on your whistle that Froch will rise menacingly from the nearest available wicker basket.
