    Basically, Canelo's on BORROWED Time, @ '54...

As Short as he Is, his Body WILL STILL Force Him to 160, Eventually...So if, If, IF Canelo Becomes the "Lineal Middleweight Champion", Sure, PRESSURE Him Into Defending Against TRUE Middleweights...What's he Gonna Do, Give Up a Title in the Weight Class he'll HAVE to Campaign in, Soooooner Rather than Later???...

Cotto's @ Least a Decade OLDER than Canelo & Began his Career @ a LOWER Weight than Canelo Began His...REED Obviously has NO Contact w/Team Cotto, but it's Perfectly LOGICAL for him to Make 1-2 Defenses & Either Lose or Relinquish the Title, w/Out Facing Any Other TRUE Middleweights...

& If, For Some Reason, Cotto Wants to Milk a Couple Defenses, THEN Pursue REAL Middleweights, the SEVERITY Of his Asswhipping will FULLY Illustrated just How Much of an ILL Fit he TRULY Is, @ 160...

REED Can ASSure You, Neither He NOR McDogg are "Manufacturing" Anything...

REED Doesn't Get HOW the Premise of a TRUE Weight Class DOESN'T Apply, Even to a Reigning Champion of a Particular Weight Class...Whereas, McDogg Thinks if You're IN that Weight Class, You're a TRUE Member OF that Weight Class....

i dont know about what weight class is optimal, but if cotto fought golovkin at 154lbs or above he is getting KOd. if anyone other than ward fights golovkin at 168lbs or below they are getting beat. if there is another guy below 168lbs who can beat golovkin then lets hear who it is

I really don't understand this debate that has been flooding the forum (and by flooding I mean we have gotten more than three new posts nearly every day=

I agree with cdogg about that a fighter has to be ranked and rated in the weight division he is currently fighting and/or is willing to fight in the future. If Miguel Cotto fights as a middleweight now, then he is a middleweight and has to be rated as such. He might be too weak, too small, whatever for the division but a middleweight he is. Or, if he goes back down in weight, that is all good and fair, he just has to give up his title. Roy Jones did this too, he became a heavyweight for a moment, then changed back down in weight and gave up his title, which was perfectly fine.

Another matter is that Cotto isn't AT HIS BEST as a middleweight, which is obvious. Thus when we rate him historically, we shouldn't count it against him too much if he gets beaten as a middleweight, since he is clearly removed from his best weight. Same goes with Toney of course.

So, right now we rank Cotto as a middleweight and assume he is going to face other middleweights (or change his division back). Historically speaking we know Cotto had his best years elsewhere.

I believe everybody agrees with these two points, so the only debate seems to be about wording, which seems rather pointless

I don't have to "pretend" anything

Miguel Cotto holds a title at 160 pounds, he is currently campaigning at 160 pounds

160 pounds is the Middleweight division.

This has been my POV consistently.

    Exactly

REED seems convinced that I think Middleweight is Cotto's optimal weight... I have said nothing to give him that impression, but he has persisted in bringing it up

I don't think Cotto is best suited to fighting at 160, but the FACT of the matter is that he IS FIGHTING AS A MIDDLEWEIGHT RIGHT NOW... Ergo, he IS a middlewieght

This is mostly about fans of Dunder Mifflin's paper champion GGG taking issue with the less than 60 days middleweight champion Miguel Cotto potentially fighting someone other than GGG next.

That's really what this is about.

A "true" weight class is the opposite of a "false" weight class.

I think we should just let this one go. Mr. The REED has gone temporarily INSANE. Him and Slice are together somewhere smearing peanut butter on each others upper arms in nothing but bicornes and white sport socks
