REED, why not work for Getty images and other stock image sites? They'd pay top dollar for a lot of these shots, especially the big fights.

I just want to make a racist joke here if that's ok. But it would be funny seeing Reed taking pics alongside the other photographers at ringside during a fight. They'd be asking Reed where he stole that camera. Tee Hee! :pointlaugh:
    Just kidding REED.

Augustus is a "Different" Type of Cat for Sure...

Boxing is what he DOES but Not what he LOVES...He's NOT a Fan of the Sport @ All, Doesn't Go Out of his Way to Watch Fights or Anything of the Sort...He's Obviously Aware of Who the Elite Level Guys R, but that's about it...He'd NEVER Heard of Most of the Guys he Fought UNTIL he Faced them:lol:...

MINIMALIST Lifestyle, to Say the Least...

When REED Picked him Up from the Airport, Dude was Wearing a Wife Beater T-Shirt, Flip Flop Sandals (w/Disturbingly Loooooooooong TOENAILS:lol:) and Carrying a Non-Descript Gym Bag...He had to BORROW a Fellow Passenger's Cell Phone, just to Call REED, to Let him Know his Flight had Arrived...& it's NOT that he Couldn't Afford 1, it just NEVER Occured to him to Have his OWN...He Eventually Got 1 of those Pre-Paid Phones w/his Purse from the Hatley Fight...

Augustus FIGHTS for MONEY, Because that's All he Knows how to Do...He had LESS than 25-30 Ammy Fights & Turned Pro...Didn't have Topnotch Management or Promoters Looking Out for him, so he Took Whatever Fights he Could...Won Some, Lost Some, but the Thing is, Augustus is COMPETITIVE Enough to Where he'd NEVER Let a Guy DOMINATE Him, Unless the Guy was just THAT Good...U've Got to EARN the Right to Dominate Augustus...Even in the Fight where he Took a Dive, Augustus was BEATING the Guy for Most of the Fight, then Did what he Did to SHIT on the Promotion Altogether...REED Wouldn't Say he's Ever "Settled" on Being an Opponent, Even Though that's what he Is, Basically...Whomever he's Fighting will "Feel" him Before that Bout is Over, that's for Sure...But @ the Same Time, things like Being a World Champion or Lb for Lb have Never Entered his Mind...His Record IS what it Is, but @ the Core, Augustus CARES ENOUGH to Not just ALLOW Another Man to Run Over him, In OR Out of the Ring....

He's an OLD Soul w/ALOT of Wisdom...Not the Most Educated Guy, yet a VERY INTERESTING, COLORFUL Speaker...Reminds REED of Archie Moore, in that Way...

REED was HONORED Just to B Around the Dude & SHOWED it...Picked him Up from the Airport, Showed him the City, Drove him To the Weigh-In, Drove him to the Fight, Kicked it w/him After the Fight...The Cool Thing is, Augustus is Completely OBLIVIOUS to How Much Boxing Fans Like him...After the Hatley Fight, there was a Line of like 25 People Standing Around the Ring, to Get a Picture Taken w/Him...Even Hatley Himself was a BIT Awed Initially...

By Faaaaaaaaaaaar, the Highlight of REED's Involvement in Boxing (Thus Far) was Kicking it w/Emanuel Augustus...& the Movers & Shakers in Dallas/Ft. Worth Looked @ REED DIFFERENTLY, After Seeing him Interact w/Augustus...

I'll say this about Augustus - he probably forced the best genuine two way action fight Floyd's ever been in and history'll remember him for that.

Slice, you ever bought any images from getty for your work? I was thinking of buying a couple to turn into posters for my new flat (an amazing collection of boxing and music images), any idea how much that'd cost?

Augustus was brought in as a soft touch for a guy called John Thaxton years ago and Thaxton got his arse burst. I remember it caused a lot of ripples in England at the time.

The costs are on the Getty site. Depends on what resolution you're looking for.

No idea to be honest with you mate. 95% of my work is to do with footage rather than stills, and the BBC have their own stills library so we tend to stay in-house as generally we will have similar images to Getty, failing that we can just use a screen grab from a programme. For us, we can only license images for use in publications etc and not for personal use, but fromwhat Hanz is saying it sounds like Getty doesn't have the same restrictions so it might be worth having a gander.

Yeah its a bit of a pain in the arse. Gety dont seem to sell for personal use. They have about 5000000 different commercial applications each with a different price structure which you only find out once you've gone through the drop menus. So no quick way of comparing prices. The cheapest Ive found so far is about 80 quid and needless to say, sack that.

Maybe for a picture of a 19 year old Kelly Brook spreading her fanny lips, but for Roberto Duran, no.

Thanks for sharing these kick-ass pictures Reed!
Its cool to see someone go from hard-core boxing fan and secondsout/fightbeat poster to being genuinely involved in the sport and interacting with so many fighters.
