Have been a fan of his ever since the Olympics. He's actually my runner-up for 2010 top prospect, although it can be debated that my top pick is actually a contender and no longer a prospect (Mikey Garcia). But yeah, definitely see big things for the kid. It's funny, two of my top four picks are super middleweights - DeGale and Edwin Rodriguez. Would LOVE to see a fight between those two in the next couple of years.
:laughing::laughing: No not at all, I'm just interested to hear an American perspective of our best prospect, and I know Jake is one of the few US-based posters along with mikE who follow the sport globally and will view the whole UK-based cards rather than just the main event.
Its not you he thinks highly of, or your opinion- it's Chunky!!!!! That said I think this place is a lot better with you than without you. But that's just me.
I guess it's just as well then that I don't regard myself as an authority on the sport and force, via my media domination, other people to subject to my said authority.
:bears: Good to have you back mate :: I'm interested in seeing Benavidez who used to train at WildCard, I've heard he's meant to be the goods, haven't got round to seeing him yet though
Ha, I stopped short of saying that as well but yeah quite a few of his picks haven't quite panned out, have they.
And yet, via this forum, you've managed to crack the code of how to subject people to your opinion on a sport which you do not claim to be an "authority" of.
Stadium fights is a positive trend for 2010? :dunno: I reckon that was a trend which was picking up well before 2010. Hatton vs Lazcano, Calzaghe vs Kessler , Klitschko vs Chagaev were all stadia affairs in 2008 and 2009 Oh I see- a positive trend for HBO fights. :laugh11:
It didn't happen in 2010? Or it was a shit 12 round fight? Oscar couldn't stop a guy who weighed 2 ounces when he was born?
If that's the criteria, then what, oh what to make of the fights you mentioned. But I know you how much you loved watching Hatton-Lazcano.
Actually that was terrible. It was almost as bad as Collazo-Hatton. But I knew it was in a stadium, so everything would pan out Ok in the end, which it did, thanks to the referee, in large part.
Khan vs Maidana rounds 1 or 10 were good shouts for round of the year, also Marquez/Katsidis round 3. Khan vs Maidana is a better fight than Katsidis vs Marquez.

I thought Lemieux´s career was pretty straight forward. Rubio WBC eliminator next, then probably Zbik. That should be two impressive knockouts and either the full or interim WBC belt. I am assuming that Martinez will drop the WBC belt.
these are stupid. why not throw in best 8 rounder fight? or best veteran of the year, best guy w/ a losing record of the year? best fight that ended in a technical decision?
Yeah some of those honors reek of favors to his local buddies, though not uncommon. With some awards given, I'm surprised there aren't categories like, "Best Interview", "Answers Phone On the First Ring" "Always Says Hello When I See Him/Her"
