They wouldn't. Their little club is up there alongside some of the biggest clubs in history and nobody can ever take that away from them. There have been a whole host of clubs that have been Premier League regulars without ever winning anything, nobody will remember them. People will still be talking about Forest and Clough many, many years from now. It was an incredible and unprecedented achievement.

Arsenal has a good argument for 3rd because they have a steady history of quality and lots of league success... but their European exploits are really suspect and I am loathe to say so because of the manner in which they achieved it but Chelsea's combination of European and league success in recent history gives them at least an argument over Arsenal... What works in Arsenal's favor is that Chelsea's long term history is so comparatively wank ... but barring a ludicrous financial collapse, its likely in another 20 years nobody would blink at Chelsea being ranked ahead of Arsenal ... forget Shitty, those fucks still can't make real noise in Europe even with the billions

 

An expert on Sunderland AFC I am not, but I do know that they have not finished in the top six of the English first division/premier league since the inception of European club fitba. They have won one trophy since the 1930s'.

Sunderland were a gigantic pre- WW2 fitba club. So were Bolton Wanderers and Preston North End. None of those clubs should be ranked as 'bigger' then NUFC where the ranking criteria is anything other than 'who won loads of things in the amateur era of Edwardian fitba'.

Liverpool and Man U are clearly the two giants of English fitba. It depends what you like: Man Utd's modern domestic dominance or Liverpool's european dominance in the 70s - 80's. I like the latter. Arsenal are CLEARLY the third biggest English club. The rest are basically nowhere.

Arsenal, without the benefit of Russian mafia cheating, have won 13 EL/PL titles, 13 FA Cups, 2 LC's, 1 UEFA/Fairs Cup and 1 Cup Winners Cup. All spread through their history - a consistently winning club.

Chelshit have won 6 EL/PL titles, 8 FA Cups, 5 LC's, 1 UEFA Cup, 2 Cup Winner's Cups and, of course, that unbelievably spawny CL win. Prior to the gangsta turning up, they had won precisely one league title, three FA Cups, two LC's and two Cup Winner's Cups. Basically about the same in their first one hundred years as Brian Clough won.

Arsenal are clearly bigger than Chelshit. In twenty years time, Arsenal will still be bigger than Chelshit, who will turn into batshit administration once the mafia stops funding them.

Leeds are "bigger" than Forest but I know whose trophy cabinet I'd rather have ... in 20 years, Chelsea will likely still be a wealthy club with a bunch more silverware ... I honestly cannot remember anything about Chelsea FC from watching fitba growing up. They were a half decent cup side but otherwise anonymous. I cannot remember them ever actually looking like they might win the league until the Russians turned up. And just before he did, Chelsea were basically on the verge of bankruptcy.

Chelsea are basically a nothing club. In ten years time, when the mafia pull out, they'l disappear like a stone. Shitty, backed by an actual country, will more likely stay the distance, but history shows that clubs bankrolled by one rich bloke generally don't last very long in the grand scheme of things.

Who's "bigger"? Celtic or Chelsea? Historically, emotionally? Celtic by light years ... the reality is that Chelsea can spend our whole payroll 100 times, they're waaaay bigger and they make fuckloads of money in merchandising... the old days are gone... when or if Abramovich fucks off, he'll be selling to some other wealthy entity... "doing a Leeds" from the position Chelsea currently sits in is practically impossible nowadays

Celtic aren't in the league Chelshit are, so you aren't comparing apples and apples. Chelshit share the same league as 19 other teams who all equally share an gigantic pot of ridiculous TV cash. For as long as that pot remains gigantic (and the money has actually decreased slightly this year, suggesting it may well have finally plateaued). The only thing which separates them from their other 19 annual domestic competitors is that their owner is richer than all but a couple of them and has proven willing to dump a billion quid of his own cash, on top of all the other money that all the other clubs also receive, in to sustain them. And that seems to have reached it's zenith - even he has decided to scale back because he cannot compete financially with actual nation states.

Unless he somehow sells Chelsea to someone who is willing to pay him back his billion quid loan, or he is willing to write it off (unlikely) and the person who buys it has enough money to compete with the nation of Qatar, Chelshit are already at the beginning of their return to the pack. Mark my words.
