    Absolutely he has claim to being #1. Calzaghe only became undisputed because Kessler spent 3 years cleaning out the division. There was no doubt that they were the top 2 guys as Joe beat Lacy and Kessler beat everyone else.

    Losing to the now consensus #1 best fighter on the planet in an 8-4 type fight doesn't reset all the work he did before.

    Guys like Bute and Froch are emerging but aren't close to having #1 claims yet. Everyone else he's not just beaten, but thrashed badly enough that they have no business getting in the ring with him again.

    And in his comeback fight he wins every round against an undefeated dude and KO's him in the last.

    I truly believe Kessler will go on to be one of the dominant fighters in the sport in the coming years. At the very least we'll find out, as there aren't many guys going around who are as willing to make big fights as this guy.
