WHAT THE FUCK? The fight is stopped in the 11th? DId Byrd's corner throw in the towel or what happened?
Byrd's corner throw in towel somewhat unexpectedly, no complains from Byrd...he was shipping quite a few shots in last few rounds but still a bit surprising
Yeah, the towel came in. Byrd wasn't in any big trouble there but he had no chance of winning, he was practically getting whipped
Only a fool would think Povs is no better than Ibragimov. Bragimov vs Byrd is a pick em fight. Povs would whup Bragimov.
Povetkin says in the interview that it was a very hard fight for him. he also says it was difficult to hit Byrd cleanly. Doesn't say anything about Wlad when asked
Byrd thanking God and thanking Germany, Byrd making retirement noises but says proudly that he never lost to an american :: and probably won't retire until he does I don't know about the road to the heavyweight championship though, I can't see him (povetkin) having much to offer against Klitschko...the pros are he has some degree of craft, his stamina seems fine and he isn't timid but his attack is one-dimensional, I could see Wlad tying him up pretty effectively and beating him up when he tries to get in on the inside with his hooks and strainght rihgts without throwing the jab
Povetkin has a good arsenal when he gets close, I was impressed with this left uppercuts and combinations. However I do agree with you in that he seems to come straight in which should make him a good target for Wlad's jab and cross
I was thinking, he has slipped no doubt but he still showed enough to scare off prospective US prospects eager for a stepping stone to a better ranking I think...
Agreed, especially in the middle rounds I thought he won 2 or 3 rounds and his stamina is good enough for 10 rounds easily.
I was going to ask what this Sylvester guy is like, but I have just seen his record and he beat Morad Hakkar. Say no more say no more. But is he really only 5'7? A slender, 5'7 middleweight? He looks more like a lightweight.
Wow. Big suprise here. When was the last time Byrd beat anyone? He's been done for a long time. I concur with Joons. Ibragimov (and a few other heavies) would have beaten Byrd like a drum. Defensive fighters who rely on their reflexes and quick hands, tend to get splattered when they lose those skills. Byrd has survived on a steady diet of average fighters since 2003....when he's fought decent fighters...he's been in real trouble. Good riddance to boring med

We're talking about someone who couldn't even beat Ray Austin. He is simply not as good as Povetkin, forget about whether he'd beat Byrd or not. Take Byrd out of the equation alltogether, Povetkin would beat Ibragimov.
Ibragimov beat Austin CLEARLY That was a shitty decision which I swear people didn't see, because everyone speaks about this draw...as if Sultan didn't win that fight by a few rounds. Listen, I'm no fan of Ibragimov and have gone on record more than a few times saying words to that effect....but people are stupid. Povetkin is nothing special and beating Byrd doesn't prove he is. Byrd's nothing at this point in time. Hell, Sultan beating Briggs is more impressive. And to that point, Evander looks better today, than Byrd does....and thats saying something...cos Evander is a shot bum.
