Caligula, what was your betting limit for the Pac/Hatton fight? The most amount you were willing to wager? I remember Orion inviting me for a bet for the Tyson/Danny Williams fight. He was willing to put up $10,000 for a Tyson win.

I was pretty sure Pacquaio was going to handle Hatton. I just thought it would go 6-7 rounds or so. I was close to accepting a bet with Caligula but decided not to because I don't bet on boxing matches nor do I want to ever get into a habit of betting. Sig bet would've been fine though.

Jesus H. Christ, that's what I said. The fact that he got taken out with a clean shot doesn't mean Tarver hits harder than a heavyweight.

And I NEVER EVER compared the styles of Hatton's and Jones's . :bangh:

I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and say you were drunk when you replied to this post.

I didn't have one. With any one person, I wouldn't go higher than $200 to win $300. If there were some trustworthy people willing to accept that bet, I was ready to bet a few people, so I can say roughly $600 to win $900. I was drunker than shit Satruday so I may have accepted more than that (and I would have paid regardless).

Anyone who would have taken my bet would have their money RIGHT NOW. That's a guarantee.

Anyone who throws around numbers like that to bet on a boxing board is full of shit. Attraction, when he talks about betting it's usually not $20, $50- bets is always talk of $5,000, $10,000. In other words the bet will never be made. :eek:ld:

You still don't understand do you?

It doesn't mean Tarver hits harder than a heavyweight, because Ruiz NEVER LANDED A FLUSH POWER SHOT ON ROY.

    That's why you can't compare.

The thing is, Tszyu and Floyd landed MANY flush power shots on hatton, just like all of Hatton's opponents.

Tszyu couldn't budge him, and it took Floyd 10 rounds to KO him.

Manny blitzed Hatton, and fucked him up with the first flush shot he landed, so it's pretty safe to say Manny hits harder than both of them.

The second part is how it played out. I agree.

I'm not trying to discredit the win at all but I think everything played out perfectly for Pac especially that the first bomb he threw landed and hurt Hatton.

The fighters that Hatton has beaten lately (castillo, Malignaggi, Tszyu, Tackie, Urango, Collazo) probably wouldn't be stopped in two rounds by Pac. They COULD but probably wouldn't be. Again I'm not saying Hatton would have won or anything like that.

Zoo hit him with a few straight rights but really, Hatton had a good defensive gameplan against him and saw them coming. Against Hatton, Manny had a gameplan Hatton couldn't see.

By the time that left hook landed, Hatton was buzzed as fuck. He got hit more by Manny in 2 rds than in practiaclly the entire fight against Zoo.

That's timing, speed and accuracy more than sheer power.

Thing is, Manny couldn't miss with that right hook. That shot fucked Hatton up waaay prior to the left hook in the 2nd.......that left was made available by the numerous right hooks that buzzed Hatton previously.

It played out perfectly because it was a great gameplan. No luck involved at all.

It has to be said that Hatton seemed to have lost some of his punch resistance over the years. Whether its the weight yo-yo-ing or abandonment of head movement and the fact that he was getting hit more flush against a higher level of opponent than he would have earlier in his career, its probably a combination. Certainly, the guy who fought Tszyu wasn't 100% the same guy who fought and got shook repeatedly by lazcano or steamrollered by Pacman. That is not to minimise Pacman's achievement, I believe he would have KO'ed the Tszyu version of Hatton as well, only in later rounds...as would a younger Tszyu himself IMO.

No doubt about it: Tszyu hit Hatton flush, coming straight forward, at the starts of round two, four and five of that fight. The fifth one was absolutely bang on- I remember wincing as I watched it. Yet Hatton just walked right through it. A few years on, Lazcarno had him in bother for fuck's sake.

Manny hits like a motherfucker- no doubt about that. His power is magnified by his speed, which was magnified on Saturday by Hatton walking straight into the punch. That's a very bad combination, and any version of Hatton probably have been on queer street after that shot. But his punch resistance has almost entirely gone, for some reason.

    MWS,

the reason we weren't seeing eye to eye on that scenario os that you took what i said and applied it to Hatton-Pac directly and in doing that you made a good point.

I was making a general statement about boxing. Just because boxer a went the distance with boxer b and boxer c has less power than boxer b...

How the fuck could Hatton be ruined by Tszyu? He beat the shit out of Kostya.

No one would ever say that.

Sure thing. Indeed, a lot of the time it can be hard to gauge, and is often dependant on style matchups.
