Canelo, to his credit, does a really good job of rolling right hands.

It seems to be easier to catch him with a hook, and Smith has displayed power in his short hook.

Smith would beat the current Kovalev.

    Kov is D O N E.

Obviously, prime Kovalev eats Smith for lunch.

Not gonna lie, I've been feeling an upset vibe around this fight all week.

I'm not saying that's whats gonna happen, but saying I've been getting the feeling - and my upset vibe isn't always wrong.

There's something about Callum's demeanor, and Canelo's demeanor that has me thinking we've sold this fight short.

What I'm saying is, Callum has the look of total focus and confidence. Canelo has the look of a possibly complacent superstar.

Am I changing my pick? No.

Am I saying there's a possibility here? Yes.

Just a hunch feeling thats been hitting me daily

Canelo wins TKO 8th round. I think it's going to be a better fight than most think whether my prediction is correct or not.

Yes, if he blows Smith out, or dominates him then stops him, I'll call it his best performance.

Why? Because Smith is prime and hungry.

Kovalev was a washed up drunk.

    Jacobs came for a check.

If he beats Smith impressively, I'll give him props.

I'll give him credit if it is.

Smith's the first young, prime, dangerous opponent he's faced in a long time.

I won't overblow it like Canelo just beat Michael Spinks or something, but I'll give him credit.

If he beats Smith impressively (which I think he will) I will say it's a decent performance.
When Canelo was set to fight GGG we weren't sure what would happen,
Same with Kovalev, even though Kov was old, he's a monster

with Smith.. we all know Canelo is going to stop him.
Smith just not TOTALLY ridiculous due to his FREAKISH size. Doesn't matter, Canelo is going to BATTER him to the body and basically SODOMIZE him in the ring and stop him in 6

Smith will be most likely working in a gym or maybe PEDDLING PIEROGIS in PICCADILLY CIRCUS within a MONTH!!!!!!!

We all know that no-one can win a decision against Canelo, so presumably Smith knows it, too. On that basis, he has nothing to gain by trying to 'box'. His best best is to constantly pressure, try and use his size and range advantage to break Canelo down and force him into a fight he doesn't want to fight. If he can do that, he has a chance.

And IMO Smith definitely has a chance here. Yes he is fairly basic but he is tall, rangy, confident and good at what he does. He's a marked step up on his brother, Liam, who was an absolute no-hoper and always will be. Callum is a good fighter with some good wins and IMO the Ryder fight will look better in time than it does right now - I think Ryder will turn out to be more than decent himself. There are not many others at 168 who would start as a favourite against Smith. He's legit top 3 or so at the weight.

Canelo probably wins, and I pick him to win a wide UD, but Smith has a chance; more than I think he's being given credit for here IMO.

    Brother MTF,

as the attempted election stealer and dementia dude would say "Come 'on Man"

We all know Smith has no shot at all.
you think he' gonna break down Canelo? he won't land much and he'll get his body busted up by the mexican meat lover

Canelo could spin him around and drop his trunks and put it in dry if he wanted!

Assuming Canelo wins, it'll be interesting to see who's next.

I don't think we're gonna see the third Golovkin fight.

We might be looking at Canelo vs Charlo in May at Cowboy stadium.

It was a combination of Golovkin being faded, and Golovkin not being as good as his hype.

Still, circa 2012-2014 Golovkin would have beaten the shit outta Canelo IMO.

I agree, I think Golovkin in 2012 would slip on a "love glove" and Glove Loved cinnamon in the REAR!

As I said, brother Lok, I expect Canelo to win but that Smith has a chance of pulling off the upset. No more than that.

If Canelo defeats a second Smith brother, will he pull a Duran and say, "Next time your father!"

The fact he even mentioned lack of prep is telling. A close fight where he loses would be a win of sorts... but here he is already laying out the story of why he loses ‘not close’.

I am surprised Canelo didn't put a rehydration clause in the contract. You know to stack the deck in his favor. I don't think Smith will win but will probably make it competitive. Then again...Canelo has had a pretty good track record against Brittish fighters (Hatton, Liam Smith, Khan and Fielding)granted most of them were punching bags.
