I think Leonard stops Ginger on his feet in the the latter rounds.

    His power is underrated.

It's hard to see Canelo not getting stopped in a fight where he's getting "beat up". He's got one gear and the one fight where he sorta kinda got beat up he basically agreed to stop trying to win against a guy that wasn't much of a puncher at all.

That's something Sly is ignoring because it's his boyfriend. Floyd hurt Ginger. Not badly, but enough to put him in a shell.

If that's the early 80's Leonard, fuckin forget about it. Soon as Leonard smelled a weakness, he turned very ruthless. Sly's underestimating how much speed can kill. Leonard would be hitting Ginger with shots he DOESN'T SEE, and I'm sorry, I fail to see Ginger having some Hagler like shit.

If Leonard could brutally KO a full fledged lightheavy like Lalonde, TRUST ME... he could KO Ginger if he hit him enough.

And you're underestimating how much of a fan I am of Sugar Ray Leonard. Leonard and Tyson are 50% each of the reasons why i became a boxing fan in the mid 80s. No one was a bigger Leonard fan than me. Even now I'm more Leonard fan than Mayweather fan (though I can't stand eithers out of the ring personas) This aint about fandom, this is about what I've observed. I don't see Leonard stopping a big strong Jnr Middle like Canelo, especially considering Canelo isn't some idiot that doesn't know how to defend himself or box. Leonard wins a comfortable decision.

Let's be VERY CLEAR.... Canelo has faced a grand total of TWO sharp, quick punchers.... Floyd and Lara. BOTH nailed everytime their let their hands go. You're overrating the living FUCK out of his defense.

It's easy to look defensively great against sloth's like Smith and Angulo. Only, even against those two slugs, he got hit.

You think he's not gonna get hit a lot by one of the fastest handed fighters that ever lived?

Leonard would hit Canelo... A LOT. Too much in the end.

Pretending that Canelo is really good is just another example of wishful thinking by desperate fight fans... Nobody wants to admit that the sport has declined enormously so they've got to pretend this guy, this P4P star really is that good

I'll give him this much... he's better than I thought he would be. When he first came onto the scene in 2010, he looked like he was a total fraud and would be beaten down the first solid fighter he faced.

To his credit, he's proven me wrong and become a good fighter.

Certainly not in the class of Trinidad though. Tito was just a different caliber talent than Ginger.

The sport has declined over the past couple of years, but the sport hasn't declined in totality since the 80s...as your kind seems to want to suggest. Guys like Hopkins, Jones, Pacquiao and Mayweather were every bit as good as the top 80s guys. But we digress.

No one is saying that Canelo is great. He's just not as bad as some try to make him out to be. He's far from a face first slugger. The guy has good balance, good ring generalship, decent counter punching skills, good combination puncher, disguises his attacks well and knows how to switch them up so that he's not predictable. Anyone who knows the sport knows that he's a decent fighter.

Point out where anybody called Canelo a face first slugger. His defense is decent. I can't call it anything more, because it's not. He's not a guy who gets hit with everything you throw at him like Brandon Rios, but at the same time, he's not a very hard target either. Especially not if you're a quick, straight puncher.

And nobody has ever said that he's a poor fighter either. But is he overrated relative to his hype? Fuck yes!!

Yes, he's overrated relative to his hype. I agree.
