His career was never serious. His size is what did it. Nog didnt know what to do. He has never seen anything like it.
I already told you, people are into the Gina Carano fad. She was actually here in Toronto promoting her crap fight. Everybody knows her now and she's become a pretty big name. Too bad her hype is over now. She had it going for a while. Super nice tits, nice ass, sexy eyes, nice smile! Was awful seeing the poor girl getting pummelled like that.
He knocked couture our twice after that fight. The other fights you mentioned, Liddel was clearly past his prime. BTW, i mentioned rampage as a better striker than Overeem.
What does who you beat have to do with if you are a good striker or not? who has OVereem beat? Didnt overeem get knocked out by Liddel?
That's the problem with JOM basing a fighter's striking ability on how they've done against other strikers. Based on JOM's rationale, Liddell, Rua and a few others are better strikers than Overeem because they beat him with strikes. I don't like that logic.
What,s the revelance of posting this?? I don't understand why people try to discredit one of the 2 sports, to enhance the other
Your missing my point. I don't care what the reason is. It's just amazing that two chicks fighting in a MMA bout generated such interest.
You need to re read my post. I said I'm NOT slamming boxing. I just think it's odd that 2 woman generated such interest in an MMA fight.

I don't like that logic.
Rua didn't beat overeem with stikes standing, he stomped him on the ground huge difference. and yes liddell was probably a better lhw striker than overeem, well after overeem gasses, wich didn't took long back in the days. And on what should we base the striking ability of someone, on lighting cans? that makes no sense at all. Pulling a crazy sub on houston alexander doesn't make you a good grappler, if you do it on jacare, that's another story
i think mousasi drew much more interest afterward, at least on sherdog there seem to be more threads on moussasi than on cyborg-gina fight. well see if theres an interest in women mma now. My guess it's like woman boxing, it lost a lot of appeal after the ''hot'' st-john (tough ugly ass chrisite martin was drawing some attentioon) and ali (who was only gathering attention cause of her father ) left.
I don't want to turn this into another retarded MMA vs Boxing thread, but it's clear that MMA has become much more mainstream then Boxing. Like mentioned earlier, 2 Boxing PPV's tonight, one headlined by a certain Hall of Famer, and it's an MMA fight....between two women...that is getting the headlines. Now with Oscar done, other then Pac and Floyd, who is gonna make news for boxing, much less sell PPV's? The UFC could put a show on with Steve Dave vs. Trplsec as the main event, and still sell 150,000 PPV's. It's all about brand name. And the UFC brand name is so much stronger then the boxing brand name right now. TFK
so what, going in a boxing discussion and sayong that geriatric boxer ray mercer koed former ufc hw champ is also a fact. But it's not relevant to the discussion
:: Golly GF! You're really a big fan of Gina's aren't you? Ok, I'll stop making fun of her now. Just for you!
i kind of agree, but I'm not so sure mma will stay strong like this for long. still, it's a tired, bothersome debate, and I hate it when people turn a discussion about mma to boxing and vice-versa for no good reasons
I'm a boxing fan and even i was more interested in seeing Gina get exposed. I don't care about Roy Jones anymore. The only Roy Jones fight I'm going to watch is when he fights Andy Silva.
Agreed. You know boxing is in trouble when guys like Floyd Fagweather Jr is considered a PPV attraction. The most boring POS ever! And a f*cking ducking coward at that.
Saying that Cyborg-Carano captured more attention than two boxing PPV's in a thread titled "Carano-Cyborg" would seem to be relevant to the discussion. Call me nuts, but it felt on topic.
I will be curious to see what this does to woman's MMA. The hot ass Carano has been the poster child, but that's over. She's been replaced by a not-so-hot machine.
What does who you beat have to do with if you are a good striker or not? who has OVereem beat? Didnt overeem get knocked out by Liddel?
he whooped belfort in the standup, you know, the same belfort that you said was a better striker than him. And koing hari is huge, it would be like nog or mir subbing marcello garcia or roger gracie in jujitsu. in other words, incredible
I don't agree with you often but I'M 100% with you on this one. Carano sucks, it didn't take me tonight ''performance'' to realize that she was a fraud, only a barely skilled woman beatin clueless woman, and it doesn't say much about her that she was totally run over by cyborg, a girl who ended up being mounted everytime she tried a throw. It was a pathetic fight. Moussasi really looked like a monster, he could be destined for great things
Calling Bojansky a below average strike makes me strongly think you don't know what you're talking about. He won 3 k-1 world champinosip and has been in the top 3 for many many years, plus Bojansky barely won vs overeeem, many had Alistair winning the fight. Overeem standing up is scary, he was whupping Shogun in the standup and Belfor even more dramatically, so these are really bad example to discredit him. Plus it seems that his chronic stamina issue, wich account for most of his losses (the one vs Liddel for example, where he had the advantage before gassing), are far less a factor at hw ( thought he looked his old pathetic self in the Kharitanov rematch )
Hari had that one fight won. Bojansky was getting his ass handed to him and then Hari went crazy and got DQed.
He should be top five on everybody list.He just destroyed a naturally bigger man in babalu and now holds two world titles in 2 different weight classes, that hasn't been done since Dan Henderson in Pride.
For the record, I agree with this post. You don't have to look any further than the number of people here (at a boxing site) who now obviously prefer MMA to boxing. It's a shame, because I still think boxing is a way better sport. But it is what it is. I don't have to like it, however.
