My post wasn't meant to bash boxing. Whether boxing or MMA is 'better' is a matter of opinion. I don't like to compare what happens in the ring\octogon. My comparisons are on what happens outside of the ring\octogon. The business end of things. What sport is promoted better, which one gives you more value for your buck, etc. TFK
I know it wasn't, it was an objective take on things. And I agree... I like boxing more, and that's an opinion. MMA is promoted significantly better, but I personally disagree that you get better bang for your buck on an MMA card... simply because, in my opinion, one major boxing match is worth more than five good MMA fights. I would make that trade any day of the week. That isn't to say I don't wish boxing PPV's were stronger... but you have to keep in mind, in a bit younger than a lot of you guys, so I think I knew what I was getting myself in to when I became a hardcore boxing fan. I don't know a world (other than old tapes) where boxing undercards are stacked with great fights. Does that make sense?
Every sport needs superstars. Boxing doesn't have any personalities left outside of 2 or so guys. If we still had powerhouses in their primes like Lewis, Tyson, Holyfield, Oscar, Trinidad, Roy, etc who all were charismatic and exciting boxers, then boxing would be thriving. But Boxing has lost all of them leaving a giant void. That's why the sport is suffering. The UFC needs stars also to thrive. But because it's a young brand and still catching on, star power isn't going to be an issue for a while. They can still market just off their brand like the WWE. But even the WWE began to suffer when their big stars in Austin and The Rock retired. Every sport has its cycles. Boxing is at an all time low. But you also have to realize that young kids are still going the way of the NFL, MLB, NBA, Soccer, and other athletics which pay tens of millions. Boxing is basically a last resort for most kids.
yeah hari was dominating the fight so much, that he was kd in the only completed round of the fight. you're clueless
Alistair Overeem now that he is training seriously (and juicing) is a better striker than ANY fighter in the UFC. He knocked out Badr Hari in kickboxing, and was beating Liddell, Belfort, Shogun all on the feet until they resorted to taking him down. He has gotten very good really quickly, and I hope they match him up with Fedor and we dont got Emelianenko-Ricco like I am hearing.
al last someone who knows what he's talkling about Tough you're wrong with the lidell fight, overeem was winning on the feet, but lideell cracked overeeme with an overhand right standing when alisatair was gassed.
You are kidding right? Hari went down to avoid the jumping roundhouse. Yeah they called it a KD (which they should have), but Hari did it to avoid that shot. It was smart on his end. But you cant deny that if Hari didnt get himself Dqued he would have won correct?
JOM this debate is silly IMO. Its distracting. I did some fight watching last night and saw some old Bojansky fights. I can say that he is a better striker than i was saying. But i dont think he is a Great striker. The reason it upsets me is because he doesnt use his skills to the best of his ability. Plus i still have some issues with him because of the Hari fight. I think he faked being hurt because he knew he was going to lose. But as far as Overeem goes, there is no way he is the best striker in MMA. NO way.
remy floored hari with a left hook that landed clearly, are you sure you saw the fight and there's nothing in the fight that proves that hari would have beaten bojasky
I just saw it two seconds ago. He didnt floor him with a hook. He hit him, and then Remy was coming in with a jumping roundhouse and Hari ducked it and went to the floor. Its clear day.
i think it was a delayed kd, he got hit by the hok, lost his legs, adn fell down trying to move anyway, i'm done with this discussion, we'll see in the future who was right
BTW, anyone who hates MMA because of the ground Grappling and just wants to see Standup fighting, watch K1. Its very exciting and non stop action.
U Could JUSTIFIABLY Ask the MODERATOR of this Very Same Forum WHY He PERSISITS in Inserting HIMSELF in NON-PERTINENT Threads, w/IGNORANT Ass Opinions....... So WHAT'S the Fucking Difference???.. REED:mj:
i really enjoy boxing, mma, k-1 pretty much fighting of all sorts. i was raised on mma and boxing and i consider myself a boxing fan first. But lets be serious, boxing is pretty much dead with hardly any fights coming out. hbos last fight was when? mma has more product coming out these days
Watching Carano-Cyborg is the EXACT reason Laila ali never wanted any part of Lucia Ryker. Ryker would have spotted Ali weight and STILL beat that ass. The first shot Cyborg landed hurt Carano. Carano was bent in half by a knee to the side...she never recovered from that.
I dunno, i previously hadn't seen either of the girls fight....and i was under the impression that Carano was just the pretty poster girl....but she had a little bit of success in there.....she landed some good right hands, and had full mount at one point....Cyborg is just an animal though, those right hands bounced off her chin, and ultimately she was far too strong. But Canaro wasn't disgraced....it could have been a different story if she was able to make it out of the first round.
I don't want to join in on the mma vs boxing stuff, but people who favor mma over boxing tend to be pretty stupid. I was surprised at how shitty cyborg was. Falling into mount twice? And if Carano knew ANY judo or wrestling, at all, she could have launched Cyborg so easily when they were clinched up. Cyborg was far stronger and Carano seemed very nervous. Neither was impressive. Oh, and the first sentence was making fun of TFK for his earlier post about not wanting to turn this into another mma vs boxing thread and then saying something inflammatory. For the record, UFC is the only thing mma has going for it. And that is pretty much recycling 10 guys at three different weight classes. Whoop T fuck.
btw, Mousassi needs to get to UFC....Strikeforce has next to nothing at 205, the UFC's light heavyweight division is stacked....furthermore, i give him the best chance against Machida. Anyone know what sort of deal Mousassi is under?....how long is he tied to Strikeforce/Dream?
Have you seen women´s boxing? Cyborg could easily pick up a few so called world titles in women´s boxing. No doubt in my mind. Both sports are a joke and still in the developmental stages. And even at the max of their performances women will always look ridiculous compared to men.
I think women's boxing is far far ahead of women's mma. But I agree it's not exactlystrong. Cyborg could not beat anyone right now. Maybe with time, but not right now.
The difference is, what I said was accurate and true, not inflammatory. What you said what just you showing everyone that you're a jackass. TFK
