Based on what? Being faster? Shoulder rolling? His imaginary peak? You sure cant base it on the results he achieved during his career.
Going into the Corley fight, MOST of the media and THIS forum were picking Corley. I was one of the few who called that Zab would beat him.
its funny but i met tim bradley as an amateur and he'd just sparred judah, and done no worse than hold his own. before mayweather jr was about to fight corley. he said he'd sparred corley and he wasnt shit. judah wasnt shit either, but he was stronger than corley, he said ::
I could def see Corley sparking Ortiz though. Collazo has no fuckin power, and look what his right hook did. Corley had good pop in his right hook.
Ortiz was never competitive with Floyd, Judah gave him fits early. Judah gave Cotto a tough fight, the same Cotto would have shellacked Ortiz. Ortiz would've lost to Witter and Corley. Most of all, Judah never quit and generally did what he was supposed to against limited opponents, especially early in his career. You never saw him quit like Ortiz did against Maidana, in fact he wanted to fight Jay Nady for stopping the Tszyu fight. Aside from all of that, the speed certainly does factor into being better. Judah showed flashes of brilliance throughout his career - generally in more loaded divisions, to boot - Ortiz has never impressed me once. A peak Judah would have EASILY beaten Maidana, Ortiz would probably lose to Mickey Ward. "Results" aren't everything in determining who a superior fighter was. Freddie Pendleton lost 30 fights and he was better than either of them, imo.
Frazier was never competitive with Foreman, Jimmy Young was.:dunno:The rest is more of the coulda, woulda, i think, I imagine stuff you always get in defense of Judah. For the record I think the Judah of say the Spinks fight is a little bit better than Ortiz of the Berto fight. A little bit.
allot about how far you're going to justify rating Judah as high as you do. Judah's the only guy except Randal Bailey who came anywhere near losing to Corley.
I don;t buy that for a second I don;t remember that being the case at all... I sure as fuck didn't think Corley would win
cotto came pretty damn close. and youre right, corley does hold that dominant victory (avenged) over 3 time champ randall bailey
As Funny as this May Sound, Zab was MENTALLY Tougher than Ortiz... Yes, Zab Attempted to MANIPULATE Refs, OVER Exaggerated Low Blows & Rabbit Punches but he NEVER Straight Up BITCHED OUT of ANY Fight to the Degree Ortiz has, on MULTIPLE Occasions...NEITHER Man Coped w/Adversity Well, but Zab NEVER Flamed Out as BADLY or as OFTEN as Ortiz Did... AND, Zab was More Skilled & Talented... In Wins AND Losses, Zab PERFORMED @ a Higher Level than Ortiz...Zab's BEST Performance is BETTER than Ortiz's Best & Zab's WORST Performance ISN'T as Bad as Ortiz's Worst... There's NOT a Huge Gap btwn them, but Zab Judah is/was CLEARLY the Superior Fighter, to REED's Eye's... REED:mj:
Yup. That's basically what it comes down to. Just because Zab would smoke Ortiz, doesn't mean that Zab was something special. But he WAS better than the likes of Ortiz, and Berto. Those two are just HORRIBLE!
It's true. Most this forum, and other forums were saying that Corley would beat Zab. Going into that fight, most believed that Corley was a top 3-5 guy at 140. Hard to imagine that now, since he's become the ultimate journeyman since Cotto stopped him, but going into the Zab fight he was a top junior welter.
At the time, the division wasn't that deep. Tszyu was still the champion, and under him you had Mitchell, Zab, and Corley. Bum ass Gatti too. Hatton was still up and coming, though was nearly entering his prime at that point.
i thought corley had an excellent chance. it was a close fight. mayweather jr beat the shit out of him and then cotto ruined him. huthuts blatant disrespect for the 3 time champ randall bailey has not gone unnoticed, for the record. he's obviously upset bailey flattened his guy Sugar Jackson Osei Bonsu
