No. Fundamentally, they are the same. The only thing that changes is that success here is judged by how active and enjoyable the boards are, rather than hitting milestones & projections.
As childish as AM's posts and threads are, I have no problem with them-this forum needs traffic, besides he will disappear as soon as another pinoy boxer gets disposed of Bautista-style or Pacquaio takes another break...
Ridiculous. :: Fundamentally the same thing... What about recruiting CEO's on well managed boards, moderators are fundamentally doing the same thing after all.
I agree with that, he just needs to get over himself, that is more annoying than his nuthuggery, which is more comical than anything else.
Is there ANY fighter on earth that would beat your hero? How about Pac vs Wlad. Yoo still pick Manny? ::
Eh, in practice, I've found that CEOs are more involved with strategy and implementation rather than hands on management.
Like i said a few months ago about J. Diaz, Pacquiao vs. CASAMAYOR...the CUBAN will beat them both.....but that was before Santa Cruz..now it's alot closer.. Casamayor still beats Pacquiao easy though...
Ok, so what about recruiting managers on message boards, moderators are fundamentally doing the same thing after all.
Of course, nuthuggers of a particular fighter usually like each others. At least, Bama brings more to the board than his nuthuggery... You on the other hand....:stir:
Recruitment managers are basically head hunters. They aren't managers in the purest understanding of the word. They are more like stock brokers, or commodities traders. They make their money from the trade of skilled personnel. The only management they really need to do is managing their own list of contacts (which is pretty much their livelihood).
So you finally agree that managing a company and managing a board are two completely different tasks! Thank you.:bears:
P4P (which I despise), Pacquiao would destroy Wlad. In reality, Wlad would have a hard time landing a punch, and Pacquiao would have a hard time not committing low blows.
I'm not sure how you came to that conclusion. We never really discussed positions of management. :dunno:
BTW, you misread my post above. I wasn't talking about recruiting managers, but recruiting new managers, in other words performing the task of recruiting new employees that will become managers.
In that case it already happens. The software industry has something called "community managers" which act as a bridge between the public and development team. These people are usually recruited from the companies community forums out of the moderator pool.
dsimon writes: Exactly! :bears: I don't even like Pac but know that he is an elite. Casmayor at a younger age is a different story entirely BTW.
To become managers? And just because of their moderating skills? Please Bama, you know it doesn't make sense. Managers main responsibility in a company is to add value to the company, financially speaking. A boards moderator is only here to keep the discussion civil, in a way the site owner usually decides. You might retort that it is a way of maintaining the boards intrinsical value but this value is totally different than the value managers are looking to add, which is economical value. Moderators are more like watch dogs than managers. They don't design the policies, they just enforce it. Anyway, that discussion is leading nowhere, and this board is for boxing...
dsimon writes: Kind of shows you how much Alabama knows about management doesn't it? Remember Baron someone can SAY they are the king of England.... but sooner or later they will say something else that really lets you know.::
So Bama has you convinced that moderating a board and managing a company is fundamentally the same? :: Well, well, well...
dsimon writes: In defense of Donny it is kind of annoying that Alabama comes back simply because Pacquio wins a fight... one that could have gone either way. Then proceeds to comment on how disfunctional the board is, like he is some kind of an expert on these matters. Especially when he gets called on some absurd comparisons. I have no problem with Alabama and I don't think censorship works, but it is kind of self righteous and silly to make these comments and it is not entirely out of line to express some sort of dissaproval as an authority figure. Though indeed the comments are not worthy of censorship.
