why would you say that? his handling of clinching and grappling is every bit as disruptive as a referee who allows it to go on unfettered.

the only way to neutralize clinching as a viable tactic is to penalize fighters for doing it, and then disqualify them if they don't stop.

the approach of letting it go on uninterrupted is no good for obvious reasons.

however, the process of breaking a clinch, everytime one occurs is just as bad. see N'dou/Maliginanni. in this fight, Paulie's goal of not fighting inside ever, and of maintaining constant distance and staying in the center of the ring was achieved by simply grabbing Lovemore everytime he got close. in this way, he was assured of never having to be against the ropes, or find himself in a position that isn't to his advantage, because like an automatic restart button, he could clinch any time he was unhappy with the course of the action. this is every bit as bad as if the referee hadn't responded at all to the fighters' clinching. and you could argue it's even worse since it leaves the victim of the clinching with almost no options other than to adopt a strategy that doesn't take advanatage of his strengths.

it's not that. it's just that it's not a yes/no issue. there's more than 2 ways that referees can deal with clinching, but only 1 of the ways is fair to all fighters involved. that's all i'm saying.

Happy? i'll be happy when Sloppy Joe is drooling on the canvas. actually, i take that back. i'm hoping for a Chris Byrdesque drooling incident in which he pathetically protests a knock-down in the midst of his brains being scrambled - an incident in which his corner and/or promoter have to tell him privately, in order to save him the embarrassment, that the stoppage was necessary, and that he got his azz kicked, despite what he "thinks" happened. know what i mean?

I read Forrest's last interview and not only does he think he will beat Floyd. He thinks he will shut him out. :eeeek:

He said he can't figure out when people can't figure Floyd out.

Forrest IS a difficult style matchup for Floyd, I will admit. But I think Floyd will win a razor thin decision..

Forrest has size over Floyd so he should beat him. I guess he is jealous because Mayorga figured him out with a home run swinging style.
