He does look "Mayweatheresque" in his style of fighting with the wide stance, jab, and shoulder roll defense. What really stands out here to me is the punching power and hand speed. When someone has that combination going for him, he stands a chance to be very good if not great.
The POWER is his Biggest Asset to REED...Obviously, the Opponent wasn't Anything to Write Home About, but he was a True MIDDLEWEIGHT & Hatley is a WELTER...Hatley was Supposed to Fight Marteze Logan on this Particular Night, but Logan was Arrested on a Probation Violation... No Other Welters Wanted it on Short Notice, so Hatley had to Find a MIDDLEWEIGHT.... REED:mj:
Charles Hatley's Latest Bout...July 25th vs. Eloy Suarez (11-5, 5 KO's)... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=It7kRvAKvwY REED:hammert:
REED Doesn't Write for Fightbeat, Hanz...By this Evening or Sometime tomorrow, BoxingScene and North Texas Boxing should have Seperate pieces about it... REED:hammert:
F.Y.I., REED was the OFFICIAL Matchmaker for the Fightcard on July 25th....The License Should B Arriving from Austin, Texas Any Day Now...REED's Trying to Put Hatley AND Luis Yanez on the SAME Card... REED:hammert:
Nah, this'll B a Small, Local, Black-Tie Event that ISN'T Open to the Public...Yanez's Next BIG Show Isn't Scheduled Until October or So, but he Wants a Couple "Stay Busy" Fights in btwn... The Black Tie Event is August 15th... REED:hammert:
LOL, last time they fought.... So you are questioning Thurman's balls? I doubt they'd agree, they're already signed with Finkel, so it's ez climb to HBO fights on horizon for Keith. On the other hand, for what ya'll are paying opponents for CH..... Seriously, if we could get TV and a main event to pair it with, it may be worth it to put CH versus Lanard Lane or Omar Henry or Jermell Charlo.
REED Isn't in the Business of Questioning Fighters Balls, but Thurman Made it Pretty Clear that he DIDN'T Want to EVER Fight Hatley Again...@ Least that's what REED has Heard from Various Sources... Hatley's Father is in Constant Contact w/Shelly Finkel, but he's Trying to Get Charlie to the Top w/Out Going Thru the Big Name Managers or Promoters...We'll See if he can Pull it Off... Hatley would Literally COME to Houston to Fight Any of those Guys, Especially if it was on an HBO Televised Juan Diaz Card or Something...& Yeah, it's Pretty LUCRATIVE Being an Opponent for Hatley... REED:mj:
Well, this is the Fairmount Black-Tie, Not the Anatole/Real Estate Council Black-Tie, where Benjamin Flores Died... REED:hammert:
Hatley's had 1 Fight on FNF...REED Posted the Youtube Link, but it was Taken OFF of Youtube after a Couple Weeks... Ironically, Hatley FILLED IN for the Slot Reserved for Yanez, but Luis' ASSHOLE Promoter Wouldn't Allow him to Fight on the FNF Show, which was Promoted by Golden Boy...Only RECENTLY has he Given Team Yanez Authorization to Pursue Fights in Dallas/Ft. Worth that DON'T Personally Involve him, PROMOTIONALLY Speaking... REED:boohoo:
R- Thurman thouroughly defeated Hatley when they last fought. $3500 for an opponent for a 4 rounder is overpaying in current world. But that's what happens when it's last minute and your dude is mauling guys. I recall that asshole promoter dishing out a tremendous amount of money on behalf of the Latin Legend.. Man, Dallas got TOO much money. Ya'll have 5 black tie shows a year, in Houston we have 1 per decade.. TIC. CH probably beats all those guys.. -M
USA Olympic Trials August 24, 2007 - 152 lbs challengers bracket: Keith Thurman, St. Petersburg, Fla., dec. Charles Hatley, Dallas, Texas, 23-14 2007 U.S. Championships June 6, 2007 - 152 lbs/69 kg Semifinal: Charles Hatley, Dallas, Texas, dec. Keith Thurman, St. Petersburg, Fla., 20-15 2006 National PAL Championships October 7, 2006 - 152lbs Finals: Keith Thurman, Tampa, Fla., dec. Charles Hatley, Dallas, Texas, 16-14 I'm sure they fought other times, but these were the most important matchups. Good series, and the 2006 PAL final is considered one of best USA amateur bouts ever. Keith is fighting at welter now, I assume Chuck is just at middle due to opponent availability? He's a true L.Middle? or can he get to welter?
Well, REED Admittedly DIDN'T See the Last Fight, so he Really Can't Speak On It...REED Isn't even Making Predictions on Hatley vs Thurman as Pros....All REED Knows is, it WON'T B an Issue from the Hatley Side of Things, N Terms of MAKING it Happen...Whenever, Wherever... Some Offers were even HIGHER than $3500, for a 4 Rounder...Suarez agREED to the Switch for Just LESS than 3 Grand & Technically it was a 6 Rounder... Mendelson HAS Thrown Money Around for Yanez & he Deserves SOME Credit for that...The Matchmaking has Been HORRENDOUS, However...THE WORST Set of Ring Announcers REED has EVER Heard, were HIRED by Mendelson Entertainment Group...Assorted Other MINOR Infractions, but Enough to Make it APPARENT that he Really ISN'T a "Boxing Guy"... & Yet U're Still a PRICK to GENUINE Boxing People???!!!:dunno:... As YOU Know, there's an Old Guard in Texas, N Regards to Boxing...A New Guy can Come Into Town Throwing Money Around, but there's STILL Gonna B FRICTION w/the Other Guys who R Probably FROM Texas & have Been a Part of Shows IN Texas for the Last 20-30 Years... Being COMPLETELY Honest, REED Thinks Hatley & Marcus Johnson R THE 2 Best Fighters in Texas...But there's ALOT of Talented Guys...Lanard, Charlo, Orozco...REED Would FAVOR Hatley Over All of them, but those R Fights that NEED To Happen & ANYTHING Can Happen when the Bell Rings.... REED:kidcool:
Agree on all points. I think James DelaRosa would give CH some trouble, but he's been around for awhile now. O.Henry matchs up well too, but CH is ahead of the rest right now. My only question about Hatley is his chin. We all saw him go down multiple times in amateurs and that was with headgear, big gloves, short rounds, etc.. Big punchers often have the worst beards.. and the way he was missing those big haymakers versus Suarez would leave him wide open versus someone with more speed and power... If you want Nelson Ramos, I'm certain they make the fight. He shouldnt be too big for CH. He was 2008 165lb TX GG champ. I dont think he ever lined up versus Chapp Huggins, but could be wrong. 2-0 now, out of Ringsters gym. Very strong kid, huge puncher. Marcus is best in TX for sure. He recently signed with DiBella and has ShoBox scheduled for 10/2, and maybe local fight with A.Leonard/J.Prince before then.. Oh and his sister Kia is a BEAST. RSC1'd ChooChoo 3 times in amateurs..
Amatuer Scores Don't Really Tell the STORY of a Fight...Hatley's a GREAT Bodypuncher, but RARELY R Those Scored in the Ammy's...Charlie had Actually Veered AWAY from Bodypunching as Much, as a Result...But he's Back to Investing N them Now, as a Pro... It'll B a GOOD Fight To See If/When it Happens....ALL REED is Saying is, there Won't B ANY Problems from the Hatley Side of Things, Accepting that Bout...Whenever, Wherever... Charlie's Gonna Pursue TITLES @ 147, but Team Hatley would LIKE for him to Fight in the Low 150's Otherwise...But it's Getting Soooooooo HARD to Find him Fights, that Middleweights & SUPER Middleweights R Being Pursued &/or Fought.... REED:mj:
James has Certainly Proven to B BETTER than his Brother Juan (Who Hatley Beat 2-3 Times as an Ammy)... The ONLY "Problem" w/Charlie's Chin is that he CAN Get Tooooooooooooo AGGRESSIVE @ Times, Leaving it AVAILABLE More than he Should...He PLACES Himself into Situations where he COULD Get Caught...But in Terms of TAKING Single Shots Here or There, Charlie ISN'T Chinny @ All, from what REED has Seen... & the FACT of the Matter is, Hatley's GOING to Get the BETTER of Most Toe-to-Toe Exchanges, No Matter WHO he's Fighting...If U Question his Chin, then U've Got to Absolutely ADORE His POWER, Right???....Yeah, he Went Down w/"Big Gloves, Headgear, Shorter Rounds, etc.", but he was Also KO'ing MORE Guys than Anybody Else @ Tournaments he Attended...Flat Out, this Kid can BANG!!!... 2 B BLUNT, Hatley BENEFITS from Being in Dallas & his Exposure to Mexican Fighters, N REED's Opinion...REED Tells him All the Time that he "Fights like he's Mexican", Meaning he's Willing to RISK MORE than Most Brothers who Fight...Charlie's Got the Skill, Technique & "Slickness" of Most African-American Fighters, but he's an ACTION FIGHTER @ the Core... Shot for Shot, REED DOUBTS there's a Better Pure PUNCHER N Texas than Charlie Hatley... REED's Looking to Get Charlie a Fight UNDER '54 this Time, Since he's Fought MIDDLEWEIGHTS Back to Back...Anywhere in the '50-'53 Range...If Ramos Gets Down that Low, Shoot REED an Email... REED:hammert:
Hatley, Mark "Too Sharp" Davis and Taronze "T-Reezy" Washington... Hatley on the Mitts... Luis Yanez in the Dressing Room, Chillin'.... Hatley, Minutes B 4 his Bout... REED:hammert:
