The fifth was a hard round to score. Chavez landed the harder punches but Sanchez landed more. I had Sanchez up after 5 rounds as well

When are they going to throw a opponent with a pulse against this kid? WTF. He's nothing special. He will get flattened the moment he fights a quality fighter.

he just beat a decent club fighter who's only had one loss. he's not even 22 yet.

if he soundly beats alfonso gomez and continues to win, i'm sure he'll fight for a title sometime in early 2009.

I think Chavez Jr. should capmpaign at welterweight. I think beats Gomez.

After that? We'll have to wait and see but i don't think he's quite ready for the elite yet.

He's bigger than all his competition to date if you noticed. He's using his size and strength against these tiny no-power having club guys. They haven't put him in there with lethal punchers.

I hope they put Cotto vs this over-hyped Mexican fighter. I want to see Cotto make him quit with BODY PUNCHES. I dont know who I hate more, PBF or Chavez Jr.

He's not ready for Cotto yet. I don't know of anyone who says otherwise. He's basically just passing the prospect stage at this point.

I understand. But why not have him fight on ESPN? Why is he being pampered in every fucking PPV undercard? Its bullshit. I want to see him get flattened.

Not really. Maybe you aren't a fan, but Jr. packs the house when he fights. He has a following, that can't be denied.

Come on Hex-One. Let the mexicans have their last little bit of hope in an up and coming athlete. They got nothing else left on the big stage. And nor does the sport in general. That's why it's easier for any young sh*t with an unblemished streak to gain a fanbase. Fans will just take whatever they can get at this stage.

After years of protection, just like Cotto who just had his first big fight at 26.

    Same promoter, see?

It's common for non-title fights to take place a couple of lbs over your natural weight class.

So what is Jr's real legitimate weight class as of now? He's obviously going to fill out some more and ultimately be fighting in the middleweight division within a few years by the looks of it.

Yeah, but he's still making the most of the opportunities he's being given.

You don't think that Lou DiBella would pimp the hell out of Ronald Hearns or James McGirt Jr if he could? Mexican fans WANT to see more of Chavez Jr. and from what I've seen thus far, nary a fan of his feels cheated by night's end. Hell, there was almost a riot last night with fans ready to throw down w/ po-po and security just to get a picture of him.

So is Laila Ali, fighting stiffs, making money while betraying boxing fans by not fighting real competition to test your ability.
At least she is not 20 pounds bigger than her opponents on fight night though except for the Martin fight:doh:

:dunno: Chavez will never be ready for the elites at 147....why you hate him? What i don't like about him and his career so far is that they keep putting him on PPV undercards against overmatch opponents...

I don't care for him at this moment...let him have his 40-50 fights against the ethnic storm of cab drivers...but just don't put it on every damn ppv broadcast...

Justin Juuko in his 9th fight
    John Brown in his 11th
    Cesar Bazan in his 13th
    Ceballos in his 16th

    Maussa
    Sosa
    N'dou
    Pinto
    Bailey
    Corley
    Abdullaev
    Torres

    back.to..back..to back..etc...

Cotto career started out a bit slow...but he wasn't fighting the stiffs Chavez jr is fighting...

    AND

Chavez jr. SHOULD not be fighting tough opponents yet...he didn't have an amateur career...he can GO ahead and have 40-50 fight against these bums..I Don't have a problem with that..just have a problem with the promoters/networks showing his fight on PPV undercards... Chavez jr. should have his mismatches on off-tv fights...

If a fan didn't know better, he'd think Jr was a world class elite considering his amazing unblemished record and high KO percentage. "Wow, check out that awesome record, this dude is legit!"
    Only in boxing.

Last night was a good step up, though. Top Rank even admitted that it was overdue, and necessary. Arum said he'd like to have Chavez next face Baldomir in January, then Gomez in March or April. Not much, but certainly a step forward from where he's been, and honestly not that far behind most of today's prospects.

Everyone hails the Peterson brothers as the potential future of their respective divisions. I'm high on them myself. But who the fuck have either of them ever faced? And they both have deep ammy backgrounds. Is their competition any more respectable than that of Chavez?

And again I say, the audience Arum targets (pimps) doesn't feel cheated in the least. In fact, they can't get enough. Those who don't like it, aren't watching.

    It's pretty simple.

    Indians...ZERO boxers.

    Why?

Because all Indian men are weakass homos and can't fight worth a fuck, that's why.

Chavez Jr has a boatload of fans. He got a bigger reception then Morales or Diaz in August. The fans want to see him. And he is a very exciting fighter the crowds are really into his fights.
