Rabid thinks being big means something. As if there aren't a whole load of 6'2 fat guys walking around the place. Oh we don't have no 6'2 indians, Rabid. You're just so legit now cause you're 6'2 and obese!:dunno:  J/K

Actually no, not many 6' 2" guys walking around, I hardly come across someone taller than me...the American national average is in the 5' 10" range.

...and yes, most beaners are a LOT shorter than me, lol.

you know Mike, the more I think on this, I kinda have to throw you under the bus on this one.

    and I quote:
Can't have it both ways. Either you're dead wrong about Chavez, or Sanchez was never what you previously sold.

I never said that he would lose but I said that Sanchez wasnt as chinny as you said and I said that there is a great chance that he could win and it wouldnt hurt to throw some money on him, tell me where I said that he would win?
I had him winning at the time he was KOed so my word was kind of right, he did have a good chance at winning as it showed during the fight.
Jr had to be at least 20 pounds bigger or more than Sanchez still, I think Gomez pounces on him, hell, I would love to see him even fight Ben Tackie in his next fight.

If Chavez Jr actually knew more than just bumrushing smaller guys and he didnt get backed up by journeymen many times that he fought them or if he didnt eat right hands like they were candy then I would be on the bandwagon but after 35 pro fights, a few amatuer fights and having your dad as a legend he still hasnt learned and I will never be on his bandwagon.

The guy is talented in a sense but is he championship talented, NOPE!
Can you honestly tell me that you thought he won both of those fights with Molina?
He EASILY could be 33-1 0r 32-2 right now.

Maybe in a couple years Oscar can have his "farewell" fight against Chavez Jr and they'll market it with the "son avenging his father's defeat" angle, again.

This is a fight i was thinking about. This fight would be huge and a win for Chavez would make him a superstar. Possibly in posistion to take Oscars spot as the most marketable fighter in the sport.

But Chavez Jr is uglier than his old man and doesn't attract females like Oscar did and also wasn't an Olympic Gold medalist and countless division champion. No deal rj.:nono: Jr has A LOT of work to do to be looking this far ahead where he's going to take Oscar's spot in any avenue.

but that's what I'm saying - you gave Sanchez a chance all along, yet here you are (or were) along with everyone else trashing Chavez after the fact.

I didn't see if they posted post-hydration weigh-in results. Not sure there was a 20 lb. difference between the two, just by looking at them. But if that's your beef... then I don't know. Maybe Sanchez should've never accepted assignment. His cornermen were bitching as early as an hour before the weigh-in that Jr. was "illegally" checking his weight, before Top Rank told them that Ray was free to do the same.

All I know is, people noted how scrawny Jr. looked at the weigh-in, while Ray in fact looked like the much bigger (read: thicker) fighter.

I think he'll win an alphabet title or two before all is said and done. If that's what you meant by championship material, then I'd disagree. Champion in the sense that he'll be the absolute best of whatever weight class he;s at - probably not, nor have I ever suggested it, and neither has too many others. Top Ranks says it, sure - they're his promoter.

As for Molina, I thought the judges got it right on both occasions. Maybe the rematch maybe could've been a draw, but no way Molina won that fight. The first fight, maybe. But I thought a draw was just. And I thought Jr. won the rematch. You'd have to give Molina the absolute max benefit of the doubt to have him winning both fights, which is sounds like is exactly what you're doing.

I don't disagree with Sanchez being up after 5. But unfortunately for Ray, it was a 10 round fight.

Let me get this straight. Chavez Jr was behind on the cards, losing to a club fighter and manages to get the KO and win the fight. Nobody sees anything wrong with the fact that he was losing the fight when he scored the KO? and a lot of you are saying he has a bright future based on this?

He will lose to Alfonso Gomez.

He was down on two of the three cards, yes.

And I will gladly accept any bets on the potential Chavez-Gomez fight next year.

It was pretty obvious Sanchez never had a chance, not because he lacked skills, but Chavez was so much bigger it was just a matter of time. Hey I guess that is what a promoter has to do, but Chavez will be in trouble against a skilled fighter, who is as big as he is.

    Steve Kim:

"With the latest Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. pay-per-view show doing much better than expected - around 70,000 buys - it's clear that Top Rank believes that they can go to the well often with this kid. Arum says that their next Chavez pay-per-view will take place on February 9th in Leon, Mexico. Jose Celaya has been mentioned as an opponent.

And because of this development, don't expect Arum to go through with a bout against Alfonso Gomez. Not only does he not have to haggle with HBO over license fees, but he can make consistent money with his 'Latin Fury' series while taking on fighters who don't pose the threat that Gomez would at this point."

What I don't understand is how did Sanchez become a big win for Chavez jr.

I read on different websites and boards how this was Chavez jr's best win to date. One thing is that he struggled and another that it was a good win.

I had never heard of Sanchez so I don't consider this a step up.

I understand Chavez jr. didn't really have an amateur carreer. But it seems like he will reach 40 pro fights before steping up the competition.:dunno:

If they are reluctant with putting him with Gomez or Baldomir they must not have too much confidence with the kid.
