Yeah he was better than Douglas too. Probably better than Holyfield too. Mike didn't like it when people stood up to him. That and a cracker standing up to him...may have done things to Mikes feeble, febrile, fragile intellect. Its notable that we've reached the stage when people are reaching for the Family Silver in the hope of warding off the evil Count Klitschko. A few years ago a cursory reference to Garlic Mike Dokes would have done the trick, but now they are reaching for the Bible itself. Suits me.
Solis eh? Undefeated, Cuban, Roman Catholic, a little black bat on the Bacardi Bottle, sure I can dig it, I can feel it. Just believe me.......Garlic Mike Weaver won't cut it. Count Klitschko will walk right on thru that stench. Better reach for the Ali Edition Gold Crucifix just to be sure. Father Karras Shavers won't suffice. You are going to need Max Von Sydow in there, casting him out. I CAST YOU OUT!!!! UNCLEAN SPIRIT!!!!! BEGONE FROM THIS SERVANT OF MAXBOXING!!!!!
I respect Tyson, the young Tyson, his skills and work ethic. He's a dangerous fighter, the perfect skill-set, the perfect blend of power, speed, attitude and application for any non 6'+ fighter taking on Vitali. However, Vitali is not Irish Mike Jameson, Mitch Green, Bonecrusher Smith, or any of the other guys that managed to get into the fight with Mike. Vitali has a chin, power, strength, and short punches, great mindset. Its a good fight, and Vitali is right in it. Pick a winner by all means, I'm easy, but pick them with an open mind. <object style="height: 390px; width: 640px"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/GYFjSfc7gcw?version=3&feature=player_detailpage"><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/GYFjSfc7gcw?version=3&feature=player_detailpage" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="640" height="360"></object>
Vitali didn't have a left hand vs Chisora. It's a stupid fight to refer to when assessing Vitali's chances against anyone. Unless your agenda is just to find a version of Vitali that your hero would have a chance against.
Let's just see if there was anything wrong with his hand first. Remember that story he made up about his shoulder? Right. Let's just see. As for this "ban" Chisora nonsense, they should just ban Haye. There is NO post-fight-fight without Haye.
Showed more mental capacity for combat sports than just about any Klit opponent I can remember. Hon. mention Arreola.
I think the 1988 version of Mike Tyson was just too quick and too relentless honestly. I see Vitali as just too slow to hit him with anything serious enough to get Mike's attention. Mike would be all over him and he'd have Vitali on the defensive all night IMO.
Klit himself was 39 for the Briggs fight. Lets put some of this in perspective. Lewis hit him with an uppercut that would have stopped Tyson. Tyson wasn't going to hurt him early or easily, and Mikes mind was always one tug away from unraveling. There are basic laws of physics to observe. A 300lb cheap canvas bag takes a better beating than an expensive 100lb leather bag. I think Tyson, 1986-1988 wins over any version of Vitali, but Mike 1990-1996 is in deep, and Mike post 1996 gets his face kicked in by any version. The Mike that strugged with Botha would get beaten by the Vitali we saw on Saturday.
1986 to 1988 is Tysons best shot, at least, unlike Bowe, we can come to an agreement as to when his prime was. Vitali wouldn't have to look for him, and Vitali always had neat inside shots. Its a very hard proposition for Vitali, that early version of Mike, but he's fighting a guy who has a 30lb weight advantage, is much stronger, is hard and can hit hard, has a jab and some weird punches Mike never saw the like of before. Mike in 1996 would probably lose- and that was 6 years BEFORE he went on to fight for the title. Its worth bearing in mind that one year separates Vitali's shot against Lewis and Mikes, thats how disregarded Vitali was. He's come a long way.
Probably. He's running the risk of losing to somebody he would have otherwise beaten, the hallmark of a guy who has over-stayed his welcome in the sport. I see no reason why that should happen, unless some shit-hot guy comes out of nowhere and Vitali see's a chance to beat him. Apart from that, his money is made, he has racked up 10 WBC title fights or so, plus a few WBO ones.....he's not going to advance in the ratings by beating the Tyson Fury's or the Robert Helenius of this world, and there is no single big American name who can help cement his place in history. His upside is slim, his downside is big, pack it in.
Always liked Vitali.I won't rank anywhere high alltime because this era is shit.Still, very solid and exciting fighter unlike his cunt brother Wlad.
Full Haye vs Chisora Transcript, How It Kicked Off. Bernd Boente, manager of Vitali and Wladimir Klitschko: "With the bad experience we've had with British fighters, we will now look for other countries. Contrary to David Haye, Dereck Chisora really went for it. He really tried." David Haye (from rear of the room): "You don't want to fight David Haye, no?" Boente: "You had an offer. You didn't accept it. Now you are out. You are out. Out, out, out. You cannot talk yourself back into the fight; you have no belts. Chisora showed heart, contrary to you. You showed your toe" [referring to Haye's toe injury]. Haye: "I accepted your offer in December." Dereck Chisora: "We'll get it on in London - be quiet. David Haye is an embarrassment, Sky Sports don't do Box Office any more because of David Haye. He messed it up for all those young fighters coming through. I'm going to give you two slaps for that. If Haye is a fighter, he should fight me." Haye: "You've lost three fights in a row" (actually three of his last four). Chisora: "Let's fight." Chisora's promoter Frank Warren: "I've got a great idea. If Dereck fights David, the winner fights Vitali." Boente: "Sounds like the perfect plan." Haye: "Vitali said he could knock me out, do you think you can knock me out?" Chisora's trainer Don Charles: "Be quiet, can security get him out of here?" Haye: "Vitali said after his last fight, 'I want to fight David Haye'. Where is he now? He said he wanted to fight me, I agreed the money, I agreed everything in December" Chisora: "How's your toe? How's your toe? How's your toe?" Haye: "You've lost your last three fights, you lost to Tyson Fury. You're a loser." Chisora: "Tell that to my face. I'm coming down, tell that to my face" {Chisora leaves his seat and approaches Haye at the back of the room, where a melee ensues. Haye at one point picks up a video camera tripod and swings it.The two are eventually pulled apart before Chisora returns to the front of the room. } Chisora: (Shouting and indicating towards Haye). He glassed me. I swear to God, David, I am going to shoot you. I am going to shoot you. I am going to physically shoot David Haye. He glassed me. He glassed me. He glassed me. I'm not having it. He glassed me. Haye's trainer Adam Booth approaches Chisora, his head bleeding. Chisora: (Referring to Booth's cut) "I'm sorry about that. Adam, your fighter glassed me. " Booth: "I want to know who glassed me" Chisora: "As you were trying to hold your fighter away, he [Haye] probably glassed you by mistake" Booth: "You hit me with a bottle" Chisora: "David had a bottle in his hand" Booth: "No, no, David didn't hit me with a bottle. I want to know who glassed me. Someone hit me with a bottle" The two are separated before Booth addresses Vitali Klitschko. Booth: Vitali, you are a great fighter but your manager is an embarrassment to the sport. Congratulations for winning. Chisora: (Addressing Booth) Either we do it in the ring or outside of the ring. Because I want him. If David don't fight me, Adam, I am telling you the God's honest truth, I am going to physically burn him. So you tell him I said that. I am going to find him. [/I]
He had the microphone, thats all I saw in his hand. Its only natural for Adam to believe that David lacked bottle. :laugh11:
I'm glad Chisora clarified that he meant a physical shooting as opposed to a mental one. I would watch it though, it'd be better than Haye-Harrison at least.
:scratcher: What's a mental shooting? Haye might well time Dereck early and completely faze him- Vitali's lack of dexterity means he can't get the bombs off in a fashion that lets him faze guys. Haye might do it. But woe betide if Chisora comes in around 235 and gets into the fight. Haye loves a breather, and Chisora won't give him one. It could get very very nasty.
