He sucks....I know HBO is looking for the "good" skilled hispanic=MEXICAN heavyweight..but Arreola isn't it... Povetkin is the best the heavyweight division has to offer for the FUTURE...
Dsi, Povetkin's less than two full years older than him (though he turned pro two years after Arreola did). It's not like Arreola is new to the sport. He started at an early age and had an extensive (and accomplished) amateur background. At 26, I don't see him ever rivaling Povetkin in terms of skill, tecnhique, dexterity...add to that defense, hand speed and footwork...and quickness and athleticism. Everything about Arreola is slow...painfully slow. He looks like a genuinely tough guy, so he may be there at the end of a lot of fights, but to me that means a lot of decision losses (if he fights top fighters). Maybe he's durable enough that he'll last to the later rounds and take a few guys out (or win those late rounds to pull out a decision)...but it won't happen often enough to give him any lasting time near the top of the division because I just don't think he just can't match-up with the more highly skilled fighters that won't fade. BTW, the one area I think Arreola could actually improve on is his size advantage...by limiting it, if you know what I mean.
Yeah, Arreola does offer something rather unique - or at least very rare - being a Mexican heavyweight and in that sense, I do give Goossen Tutor credit because they finally found a way to get on Telefutura. :: Perhaps Arreola can fight George Garcia...might be a decent scrap.
would someone who blows as bad as claimed in this thread get to the 10th against Klitschko, after taking a hideous beating?
Well, I think he has potential, would have loved to have seen Wlad in the ring with him on that night, as opposed to Vitali,...infact, Steward will keep Arreola well clear of his monotonous, defenceless, cruisader.
