I cannot believe that this topic is still being discussed.

The guy is clearly not top tier, world class calibre....and we are still talking about him.

    Hmmmmmm...

I wonder what you have to see to think it was a "perfectly placed body shot."

    I mean, really?

What I have to see is a punch to the body under a fighter's guard, or thrown while the other fighter is throwing a punch. What do you have to see?

Tarver has a bad habit of fighting down to bums though.

If you're talking the right hand which is 3 punches before he slips, do you really think that punch caused the KD?

He was staggerig around the ring from being tired almost the entire time, Henry misses several punches and he slips through the ropes.

    That was not a KD.

Yes, that's the punch they are talking about. It should also be pointed out that the punch in question landed on Diaconu's shoulder, which is not a scoring area.

The video is there for all to see, I can't believe this is being discussed.

It was an interesting combination. While Diaconu is going back Henry catches him with a nice left that rocks him. Then the body shot a few seconds later. Than a right hand. Diaconu was looking to take a seat. If the ropes are the only thing holding you up it's a knockdown.

There were a series of punches that landed that caused the knockdown. I still can't believe you don't see it.

by the way, I'm not arguing if Henry won or lost this bout. Simply that there was a legit knockdown. It wasn't called and I'm OK with that too. I just think if that point cost him the fight then he got fucked.

Your absolute best argument would be that it's a judgment call. It would have been a bogus KD call, but factoring in human error it could have happened. The ref could have missed the punches that clearly missed, the ones we have the luxury of watching on tape.

To say that is a bad call is ridiculous.

It's a tough one to call, but a good referee is in the right position to see the action. And the WBC Rules state:

    • If the ropes prevent a fighter from going down, the referee will call it a knockdown.

    It was a bad call,

looking at the scorecards it looks like Henry still loses even if they score it a knockdown.

I know the rule. It has to be from a PUNCH. No clear punch landed that knocked him down.

this is great stuff, I'm not being sarcastic, this is the funniest thing I've heard today.

Adrian Diaconu might be a top 10-15 Lt. Heavy

    Yeah, somewhere between 9-12.

Henry is not a top 10 caliber boxer at this stage of the game. Hopefully Ronnie Shields can help him improve his skills. I think he's still pretty young?

Right. But your opinion doesn't erase the fact that he's #1 by the WBC. That makes him a top guy. And I'd be hard pressed to find 10 guys in the division better than him.

The dude hit him with three punches that started the sequence of him going doing. Geez, arguing with some of you guys is fucking useless. The video is there, watch it with your eyes open this time.

Henry lost. :dunno: Diaconu's stock arguably went down in victory, the way he faded down the stretch.

True, but it was close enough to give him the spot underneath or even two spots underneath. If you rank him #7 that would put Henry around 9 or 10. Any more questions?
