    Hmmmm....

Roy Jones Jrs Income SHITS on Byrds???...Agree or Not???...

Roy Jones Jr. Eventually LOST to a TALL, Olympic SOUTHPAW...Chris Byrd is even TALLER than Taller & MORE SKILLED All Around...

Fuuuurthermore, Byrd Would've Been in a Position to Face Roy Waaaaaaaaaay B 4 Tarver Ever Did...@ Supermiddle OR Lightheavy...

Byrd Could've BEATEN Roy, Assumed HIS Position & Effectively BECOME what Roy Jones Jr. Became...

So YES, REED Maintains that Byrd Played his Shit WRONG...

Granted, RJJ was/is more exciting to watch than Byrd, and that has an effect on money and marketeability.

But the fact remains, Byrd never made THAT much at HWT - not nearly what he 'should have'....

And you also have to wonder, had he taken the route you've suggested, would his longevity have been extended. I would say yes, which also means more $$$.

That also assumes that he could do against light heavies and cruisers what he did against heavies, which may or may not be a given...but nevertheless, good points.

    Peace.

Byrds biggest mistake was not realizing or captalizing on the fact that he hurt Tua and could have STOPPED HIM!

for those that doubt. watch the fight.. Byrd went to Tua's body and had him hurt

Does REED really think Byrd would have DOMINATED LHW with Roy being around??

Byrd has fought in 8 heavyweight title bouts and has other fights that were on HBO.
    .
His style is and never would have been crowd-friendly.
    .
He got knocked on his ass by Arthur Williams, a cruiserweight. Legit knockdown, although I thought Byrd won clearly.
    .
Just because you fight successfully at heavy, doesn't mean you would kick ass at a lower weight. Byrd's style is probably a perfect example. He'd still be a light-hitting guy only now he'd be getting hit a lot more often.
    .
You guys are basically arguing that he'd be better off if he had been Virgil Hill. I'll be fucking amazed if Hill anywhere near the same money as Byrd.
    .
Even a guy like Moorer, who did kick ass a light heavy and did fine as a heavy (7 title fights) probably lost money fighting at light heavyweight instead of going up right away.
    .
A guy like Byrd staying lower weight also could have resulted in him not carrying heavyweight weight as well as he did, which wasn't all that great.
    .
I'm not saying you guys might be wrong, I'm saying you are almost surely wrong. The heavyweights make the real money with very few exceptions.

It seems as if he belongs at the lighter weight but who's to say he carries the effectiveness there? At HW he's fighting guys that hit harder but also throw less for the most part so he has a fair chance at outworking them.

Perhaps at the lighter weights, he loses his best advantage (speed) as the guys are closer to his athletic ability.

CONTRARY to What U're Saying, Chris Byrd HAS Been N "Fan-Friendly" Bouts, Particularly LATER N his Heavyweight Career...To Say his Style has "Never" Been Fan-Friendly is Categorically INCORRECT...w/100% CERTAINTY, U're WRONG...

Byrd CONCIOUSLY Took more Chances N the Latter Portion of his Career, which Tells REED he COULD have Taken More Chances @ ANY Point of his Career, which Tells REED he MOST DEFINITELY Could've Taken More Chances & Consequently Been MORE "Fan-Friendly" @ a Lower Weight...

Byrd Could Afford to SIT on his Punches More @ a Lower Weight...U Reference Michael Moorer...Well, Moorer was a DEVASTATING Lightheavy Puncher & his Power DIPPED as he Moved Up...So SURELY, Chris Byrd's Power would INCREASE to Some Degree, @ a Lower Weight...

U're Telling REED that if Byrd Won Titles from 168-Heavy, he WOULDN'T have Made More Money than he has??? ...

This is PURELY a Hypothetical that REED is Speaking of...

Dating Back to Frankie Liles, Roy has had Trouble w/Tall, Somewhat Speedy Southpaws...So CONCEIVABLY, He'd have Had SOME Trouble w/Chris Byrd, @ LEAST...

I don't see why Chris Byrd would necessarily have won titles under CW...his main assets at HW were his relative elusiveness, handspeed and his chin, possibly only the latter would make him a standout guy at the lower weights...

Byrd couldn't really punch at HW, but he wasn't completely feather fisted.

At the lower weight clases he wouldn't be a speed demon, but he would still be skilled with good defense, and excellent chin, and would probably hit a lot harder than you'd imagine too.
