Groves was first into the ring on Saturday night against Daniel Allotey, a southpaw like DeGale, who he stopped in four rounds. But Chunky immediatelty laughed off the idea that the Ghanaian was good preparation for taking on his own talents.

"Yeah, I watched Ugly Kid on Saturday night," he told skysports.com. "The only similarity between me and him (Allotey) is that he had gloves on."

    That's pretty fucking funny

I have to say though, Groves isn't particularly ugly, and James isn't particularly good looking. Looks wise, DeGale is barely any better than Groves.

Still, he's pretty funny. Much funnier than Haye, who tries too hard, and isn't remotely funny.

Word, Haye's verbal shite is so pre-written and pathetic it's ridiculous. Did you see Groves' attempt at copying Haye on page one of this thread, quite possibly the most awkward and cringeworthy (yet uintentionally funny) trash talking I've ever heard

Yeah, just imagine being inspired by Haye's hideously contrived drivel

It makes you feel a bit sorry for him. Especially seeing as he'll obviously get whupped.

I'm looking forward to seeing young chunky in the ring again. The main event should be good too.

Article speaking to Chunky and Cooky:

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/ot...y-in-a-coffin-than-lose-to-George-Groves.html

James DeGale claims he would ‘rather be taken away in a coffin’ than lose to George Groves
James DeGale insists that once he has conquered west London by defeating former amateur club-mate and bitter rival George Groves, he will move on to become super-middleweight world titleist.

Big presence: James DeGale will defend his British super-middleweight title against former club-mate George Groves Photo: GETTY IMAGES By Gareth A Davies, Boxing Correspondent 10:14PM BST 30 Mar 2011
There is deep animosity from the incumbent British supermiddleweight champion. “‘Hate’ is a very strong word, but I’d rather be taken out of there in a coffin than lose to Groves on May 21 [at O2 Arena, London],” DeGale said.

“He has used my reputation, my success at the Olympic Games and the Commonwealth Games to develop his own standing, and his attempts to run me down are based on beating me once in the amateurs.”

From the age of 10, the pair shared the same club – Dale Youth Amateur Boxing Club – in a tiny burial chapel off Ladbroke Grove, West London, the sanctuary barely wide enough for a ring.

They shared the same coaches, and the same ring for round after round of sparring. But there was never any love lost.

Since the contest was announced two weeks ago – Groves is the Commonwealth super-middleweight champion – each man in turn has claimed to have had the upper hand in their many amateur sessions, both claiming they will put the record straight on fight night.

This is not hype. The animosity is genuine. With DeGale’s Olympic gold-medal success in Beijing, he has the pedigree. But this promises to be a domestic dust-up royale.

“We are men now, and this is a totally different scenario, different fight,” explained DeGale on Wednesday, from a suite overlooking the pitch at Loftus Road, home of Queens Park Rangers.

“We won’t be friends afterwards. We never were friends and this ‘thing’ between us will not be over until Groves is flat out on the canvas. I’m aiming to give him a broken jaw to go home with.”

Harlesden born and bred, DeGale's family support QPR, where his cousin Lee Cook, a deft left-footed winger, plies his trade.

Cook revealed his admiration for boxers. “We can have a bad day and the team can win, but this is the toughest sport, boxing," he said. "No hiding place, and you’re putting your soul on the line. James is very focused for this event. It’s local bragging rights in this fight, but it’s about putting the record straight.”

The duo are headed towards Premiership status together, with DeGale expected to challenge for a world title within a year, and Cook anticipating next season in domestic football’s top flight. “I can’t lose this fight," DeGale said. "I’m so focused because I don’t want to go in there and fight with a red mist.

"Once I’ve dealt with Groves, I’ll be hoping for my promoter Frank Warren to move me up a level to challenge for world honours.”

Like the battles between Chris Eubank and Nigel Benn two decades ago, this contest, for vitriol alone, is worth seeing. There should be fireworks. DeGale is a slick fighter; Groves a power puncher.

De Gale should go straight after Stieglitz after Groves. Im sure that fight could esily be made (and won, obviously) Pick up a world title and get himself right into the queue behind Bute ready for the end of super 6.

Slice, once DeGale dispatches of smelly breath boy, do you think his next opponent would be Pavlik?

Stieglitz has an upcoming fight on 9/4/11 vs Sartison. I'll be tuning in if I can get it on my tv to see how good Stieglitz is.

Groves is a strange chap. He doesn't look like a super middle either, he has the features and demeanor of a bantamweight or something.

I don't know what's happening with Pavlik tbh, I think the most likely fight is Magee for the European title, or as Hut said, Stieglitz for the WBO. Magee will probably be favourite. Stieglitz isn't very good, I'd pick Cookys cousin over him in a heartbeat.

McDonnell nearly made Groves cry in that presser , no matter what front Georgie boy puts on, those words will have had an effect, no doubt. He doesn't seem the type to become galvanised by critics

DeGale: 'look at what you boys is wearing? WTF bro, you don't even belong in the same room as me'

Hard to deal with someone that totally full of themselves. Especially when you know they can back up everything they say

It made me crack up to see McDonnell & Booth trading words. Booth got well defensive when McDonnell said to him " you've never boxed", "you've never taken a punch."

I can't wait to hear what bollocks Booth says after the fight.

I've never seen McDonnell get so involved in stuff like this...that was fun. His trash-talking is a hell of a lot better than DeGale's, whose taunting isn't even grown up enough for the playground.

I actually think that George and Adam responded to McDonnell quite well, George taking it in good humour, then Adam calmly defending himself as he had every right to do so....as much as i loved McDonnell's emotional rant, it was a bit of a cheap shot to question Booth's credentials.

What i really agree with McDonnell on is Groves' chances....as he pointed out, a year ago this would have been looked upon as close to 50-50. Myself, I have to say i would have picked Groves. Now there is a feeling that DeGale is a firm favourite, which i too now go along with, given the improvement DeGale has shown, and the holes in Groves' game that have been exposed.

I like it, it's effective. It's 'Im so relaxed I'm not gonna put any effort into what I say to you at all, Im gonna talk to you like you're a daft little boy'.

It's silly but it's funny & it works. The dismissive relaxation is the message, not the textual meaning.

McDonnel's was a bit close to the bone and uncomfortable, for me. Ouch.

    Oh please.

Chuck Norris has nothing on DeGale in this forum. His trash talking is just that: Trash.

Not like he´s fighting Bill Clinton either. He´s losing to Bush Jr.

Trust me, when they both left the studio, one of them started to doubt himself, and it wasn't Cookys cousin.

I saw these two going at it verbally on a boxing show called ringside hosted by Johnny Nelson and some other guy. It was pretty funny. I like DeGale's outfit on that one.

As much as I am a DeGale fan, and this was obviously made by someone in team Groves as it was David Haye who told everyone about it, I have to admit it is pretty funny :
