The newest entry in the Disney strategy of remaking their animated classic as live action films paid off once again as Cinderella easily took the top spot at the box office with a whopping $70.1 million domestically and a massive $132 million worldwide. While the adaptation itself didn't offered anything new to the widely known fairy tale, director Kenneth Branagh (Thor, Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit) delivers so much charm and eye candy visuals that even critics have been giving it thumbs up. Disney's next live action adaptations will be 'Beauty & The Beast' and Tim Burton's "Dumbo".

The Disney juggernaut left Liam Neeson's newest action thriller Run All Night with no much room to run. Debuting even lower than the most pessimistic predictions it grossed only $11 million in the second spot. Neeson himself recently admitted than his action hero days might be coming to an end soon hinting at his age, but these kind of numbers might retire him from those roles sooner than he planned.

In the third spot and holding well after 5 weeks Kingsman: The Secret Service added $6.2 million to its global $276 million grosses. Will Smith's Focus went down to the 4th spot with $5.8 million for a three weeks total of $44.3 million. Last week's #1 film Chappie plunged a 56% drop to the 5th spot with barely $5.7 million. The scifi film has now grossed an abysmal $23.3 million.

Meanwhile debuting in only 4 screens (its producers were viewing this film as a straight to DVD film) It Follows had the best per screen average than any other film this weekend or $163,000 in three days. That is $40,750 per screen versus $18,259 per screen in 3,845 locations for Cinderella.
