It's THE SAME Fucking Thing, Dude...

YOU have a "Preconceived Notion" that Guys like Roy, Floyd, Ali, Ray Leonard or Sweet Pea R "Bitches" or "Pussies" just Because they Don't DUMB DOWN their Styles to Suit YOUR Pathetic Needs...U Also have this "Preconcieved Notion" that Guys like Margarito or Castillo WOULDN'T Fight like the Aforementioned Names, Given the Talent & Skillset to Actually DO So...

If U Have the FOOTWORK to Befuddle your Opponent w/Angles & the HANDSPEED to Beat him to the Punch EVERY Time, WHYthefuck Would U Trade Punches???...To Appease Double L???:shit:...

There's MORE than 1 Way to Skin a Cat & 2 B SUCCESSFUL in a Boxing Ring, Doub...But YOU'RE CLOSE MINDED & BIASED Enough to Harbor RESENTMENT & a Blatant LACK of Respect for Guys who DARE to Fight UNlike U'd Prefer them 2...Meanwhile, Guys w/LESS Heart, FEWER Accomplisments & SHITTIER Resumes Actually have "Underrated" Threads Dedicated to them by U AND U Bend Over Backwards to Find "Subtle Sciences" in their Styles...

Ha ha ha ha. You're demonstrating the same bias you allege that I have by referring to one style as being "dumber" than another. You ask the question should Floyd "dumb" down his style to please me? So you're implying that one style is better than another.

I've not made that claim. All I've simply said is that I prefer certain styles over others. And find them more entertaining to watch. If every fighter fought like RJJ or the quasi-welterweight PBF, I'd stop watching the sport. And that's not an exaggeration. And my guess is I'm not alone.

And notice I refer to the quasi-welterweight PBF as opposed to simply PBF. Because at 130 and at 135, PBF was an entertaining fighter who fought to win and took on the best guys in his division.

Back to the topic at hand: you act as if I'm not entitled to prefer one style over another. Well guess what. I am. And that entitlement gives me the right and the inclination to criticize the styles I don't like.

If that bothers you or offends you, just remember that you referred to the style of fighting I prefer as being "Dumbed down."

And I know you've made it clear in the past that it isn't the case but there seems to be overwhelming evidence to the contrary that you prefer by and large African American fighters. You're entitled to. As one yourself, you probably identify with them more, and prefer their personalities. But if that's what's driving your preference for speedy pot-shotting hit and hold fighters, then it's pretty ridiculous for to call me out on my preference for fighters who fight to win (regardless of their race) as opposed to fighters who fight to not lose.

And by the way, I never cited Ali or Leonard as belonging to that category. Ali and Leonard certainly too much holding for my taste, but they fought to win, there's no doubt about that. Whitaker? The quasi-welterweight PBF? I don't think the same can be said for them.

Way to totally miss the point of REEDs post

And now Leonard is a big holder, too???

Weren't you a Castillo fan?? That guy was a master of hit-and-hold, he did it all the time... when he couldn't catch Mayweather in the rematch he was basically grabbing him and trying to ride hime like a pony into the ropes... I guess that is ENTERTAINING and FIGHTING TO WIN:doh:

Just tune in tonight and you'll see first hand why Cintron ISN'T overrated. Of course you'll probably miss it, you'll probably come on here and make a thread about how Cintron should have been awarded the victory but that the ref just counted to 10 too fast.

Ha ha. Great thread, and as usual everyone piles on Double L just because it's Double L. Ready..fire..aim when it comes to Double L. No thinking, just typing.

Well he was right, Cintron was underrated, not so much because he's so great, but because people had COMPLETELY written him off due to the Marg fights & the bullshit draw he had last time out. Re-read that if you are getting all worked up. He is NOT under-rated because he is so fabulous. He is under-rated because people dropped his stock to ZERO without taking into account the cement-gloved asshole he "lost" to.

I think now that it would not be unreasonable at all to say that Margarito's glove loading had an impact on his fights with Cintron, and that the incredible disdain people have had for Cintron was a bit extreme and premature. Cintron IMO has one loss, to Martinez, no matter what the record may say.

Let me also point out that I thought Angulo would become a world champ and be hard to beat, since he alone out of most of the "prospects" at this weight showed all-around balanced skill. He appeared to be very good in EVERY area, although not great in ANY area. I thought with some experience, he was going to turn out to be a damn tough guy to beat.

Well, I was wrong. Although I think that by no means is this any kind of end to his young career, I think it does show just how vulnerable the guy is. A lot of guys could beat him handily.

Cintron is getting better, and his conditioning was slightly better tonight, too. When he used his height & jab he looks good. He did a great job controlling the ring, slipping punches, moving. He will never be an A-level fighter, but he can still make some noise.

Cintron has been underrated, I thought he would have enough to get past the slightly predictable Angulo, I think he'd get past the overrated Clottey and do ok (I wouldn't pick him to win however) against Mosley. Regardless, although his in the ring antics would make you question his heart sometimes, he has to be given some props for facing all these guys, he never seems to have dragged his heels outside the ring

I'm not particularly surprised. I didn't think Angulo was anything special.

I would have picked Kirkland to beat him but I thought he was good enough to beat Cintron at least.

Color me unimpressed by Cintron. From rds 2-6 I was impressed by Cintron, but I knew by rds 9-12 he'd be getting all sloppy and in borderline survival mode just like he wound up doing. Sure he won the fight, but let's look past that.

Angulo was supposed to be pressuring Cintron, but until about rd 7 he was only halfway pressuring staying right inside of Cintron's punching range, and not forcing the action while getting tee'd off on and making Cintron look fucking awesome. However, when Angulo started pressuring a bit harder, Cintron looked way worse off, and those were some of the main rds that I thought were a lot closer.

Cintron is also a very soft fighter. He reacts negatively to every punch that hits him, especially body shots. It's also true that he seems to have to think of every move he makes in the ring and he just isn't fluid or comfortable in there. I think it's this discomfort that causes him to be so stressed that he gases out late in fights.

Also, Angulo had only had what, 15 fights? That's a fucking novice who should be on ESPN working his way up, and his style was tailor made to make Cintron look good so he can once again become overrated by everyone. Angulo just wasn't very good last night, I don't know if he was sick, weight drained, or just normally sucks that bad, but dude is a terrible pressure fighter and to me he still seemed like he was close to stopping Kermit with body shots in the last rd.

In my estimation Cintron is not underrated. If he's been down graded lately than he should be just about right where he belongs.

You've got to be fucking kidding me? One fight and he's back to being overrated and would do okay against Mosley again? Also if you truley think Clottey is so overrated that Cintron beats him, I'd put $500 bucks up against that and throw in a year long sig beat to boot if that fight ever gets made. Maybe you should look again at how limited that guy Cintron just fought was and then remember how much trouble Cintron had with that limited guy in the last 3 or 4 rds. Cintron was doubling over from body shots in the last rd.

I think they should make a Cintron-Berto fight. Berto would look fucking awesome destroying Cintron and maybe Cintron actually takes that fight since a belt is on the line.

You are overrating your favorites. I was happy that Mosley overcame his underdog tag to beat Margarito handily, but I would still pick Cotto to beat him more handily again, Mosley-Clottey would be very competitive, I think he'd lose to Martinez etc. Suddenly Angulo was nothing special or not a future elite fighter, A lot of others including HBO thought otherwise. As for Clottey, maybe you'll get the inclination to revise your opinion after Cotto clearly decisions him.

Where is it that I'm overrating my favorites? I would call a Mosley rematch with Cotto a pick em' myself. I give Cotto a chance only if Shane didn't have Nazeem and the fact that Shane is so old and how well Cotto handled him the 1st time. I give Shane a chance because of Nazeem and how well Shane finished their first fight. Still I wouldn't be surprised to see Cotto win again.

I agree it would be competitive and I lean towards Clottey. Who do you think loses to Martinez?

No he isn't. You think because HBO does a piece on him that means he was going to be something special? Did you read the two posts before the one I did? MWS & Whiskey didn't think he was special even before last night. And what is a future elite fighter? There is no such thing. No fighter is a future elite fighter. You either become one or you don't. Seeing as how Angulo lost to a guy last night who isn't elite himself I'd say that pretty strongly narrows Angulo's chances on becoming elite too, although it doesn't kill his chances.

What opinion? That he's not overrated? Getting decisioned as opposed to KO'd should say he isn't overrated. Do you think Cotto would decision Cintron? Fuck no! Cotto would KO his ass. Clottey will give Cotto a tough fight and has a real good shot at winning. Of course if Clottey wins it will only be because Margarito ruined Cotto, right?

Well, its a real question, its not like the Jennings fight told us anything. However, if Clottey beats a Cotto who's reasonably close to what he was, it means he's more than what I thought he was, good for him. That sounds like a ready-made excuse but its not guaranteed its the same guy; I wouldn't say the Margarito beatdowns have significantly changed Cintron, may be same for Cotto, maybe not.

A future elite fighter seems pretty clear, he was being developed to be a star in terms of exposure and level of comp and he'd passed every test until this time. If you never felt it, thats cool, but plenty did.

I'd pick Martinez to decision Mosley

The fact that 90% of the board picked Angulo to win, and yet Cintron won the fight going away, proves irrefutably that Cintron was or is underrated.

Those who are back-pedaling, implying that Angulo wasn't as good as you thought he was and that's why he lost, continue to underrate Cintron and do so in the face of hard facts that suggest otherwise.

As far as I can tell, 90% of the board thought Angulo was a better fighter than Cintron. Cintron proved that is not the case. So how the hell was he not underrated?

    Give it up.

I was very impressed with Cintron Saturday night. He has shown some improvement. I'm looking forward to see more of Cintron in the future. I think he is doing good with Shields.

Sorry...you'll have to look somewhere else for that. Maybe there's a gay boxing forum out there for you. If not, maybe you could start one for yourself.

And are you upset because pointed out the obvious next step for this topic? And when do you claim Cintron is being ducked by Mayweather...I will remember this and have a good laugh.

I'm not upset just wondering when you're going to stop trying to bust my balls because your whiny ass can't handle it when someone doesn't agree with you.

You're probably also pissed because I pointed out how stupid your signature is. What a joke. You keep on battling.

My "whiny ass"?? That's pretty funny coming from you since your first reaction to any push-back on your ridiculous and oh-so-biased topics is to get bent out of shape and start calling names.

Folks disagree with me all the time. Some really know what they are talking about...and then on the other hand there are folks like you who talk out of their asses and, when proven wrong, backtrack and make it up as they go along.

Please show me where I did this.

Here's a hint, Einstein...I posted for the first time in this topic TODAY not too long ago. So I haven't posted anything in this thread regarding whether or not I think Cintron is underrated. So I guess it's YOU who is talking out of your ass...yet again.

I pick Cintron by TKO/KO 5....Angulo has always been garbage sloooow hands..and slower feet...

but even in that fight there were times CINTRON had that BITCH LOOK on HIS FACE like he didn't like wat was happening and wanted out...

Mosley would abuse him...and Cotto will make him quit very early...

Or is it me playing the odds that you'd have plenty of shit to throw when it comes to a thread I posted. Either way, you're not as smart as you think you are.

Looks like you played your imaginary odds and LOST. As per usual...you made a statement you couldn't back up and are reduced to getting pissy instead of just admitting you were wrong. The bottom line is you said something that was incorrect....again.

I never made any claims to being all that smart...BUT I don't run my mouth and make statements without doing my homework first. It really isn't all that hard to know what you are talking about...but you are usually in such a rush to get attention and shove your opinions down the forum's collective throat that you post stuff that is, at best, of questionable validity.

So to sum up our little chat...you accused me of "laughing my ass off " regarding Cintron being underrated. And I, as we know, did no such thing. So that makes your statement FALSE.

Better luck next time. Thanks for playing.

Has Cotto ever beaten a fighter who's had as significant height advantage as Cintron would enjoy?

Has he beaten anyone who punches as hard as Cintron?

You're entitled to your opinion, but I don't see what assets Cotto has that would assure him victory over a guy like Cintron.

Mental toughness, boxing skills, body punching, speed, his own punching power, inside fighting,etc..etc.....how anyone can think Cintron would beat Cotto or Mosley is beyond me....he has NO SHOT against Mosley...and his only chance vs. Cotto would be in the first few seconds of round 1..right before Cotto start digging into his body...

that bullshit jab, jab, jab, right hand or roll w/ the right hand counter with the uppercut bullshit won't work w/ Cotto...

I don't think you're giving Cintron enough credit for his defense. And I also think his chin is far better than people think. So the guy shows frustration when he gets hit, or he's against the ropes. Who as a fighter isn't?

You don't think Cintron's hooking off his jab could catch Cotto? When he's watching for the long right hand?

Cintron also goes to the body.
