Pacquiao might be using steroids, but he is always challenging himself...

Already beat Cotto, Mayweather negotiation failed, MOsley and Berto won't be available so he goes on with the next best choice CLOTTEY....

LOS ANGELES (AFP) - – Manny Pacquiao says he is ready to move on and now plans to take a welterweight title fight against Joshua Clottey in March instead of facing Floyd Mayweather.

Pacquiao's promoter Bob Arum told Sports Illustrated that after six weeks of failed negotiations Mayweather is no longer on Pacquiao's radar screen and that the Filipino boxer now has a tentative agreement to fight Clottey.

SI.com reported Friday that Pacquiao and ex-champ Clottey would meet in a World Boxing Organization welterweight title fight on March 13 possibly at Cowboy Stadium in Dallas, Texas.

"They are just trying to get under Manny's skin," Arum told SI.com of Mayweather's camp. "It serves no purpose to aggravate Manny Pacquiao.

"This is beyond stupid. We are not negotiating with these punks anymore."

But Mayweather's camp isn't ready to throw in the towel. Golden Boy Promotions chief executive Richard Schaefer has said he still feels one of the richest fights in boxing history can be saved.

More of the same. :shit: :shit: :shit:

Last time I checked Clottey lost a WBO title fight on his last fight. Why should he get another shot at the same belt? Aren't the #1 & #2 contenders crying foul?

It's a nice boxing site that is 50/50 MMA & boxing and usually has great stuff on MMA. I'm sure TFK would love it if he hasn't been to it already. Fighthype is one of the top sites on the 2 sports & often have interviews with the top fighters in both sports. In fact they regularly do interviews with guys like Floyd Sr, Roach, Mosley, RJJ etc for free where as you would have to pay to see those guys on Boxingtalk. This is not to even mention the MMA stars they also interview. IMO they're the top boxing news site right now and shit all over Fightnews and Boxingtalk.

You sound jealous. First of all it's hardly my favorite site when posting is concerned. However when it comes to boxing news I trust & check 3 sources before I come on here and discuss stuff.

    1.) Boxingtalk
    2.) Fighthype
    3.) Boxingscene

I also occasionally check Maxboxing as a fourth and rarely but sometimes go on Fightnews too. So while I do go on Fighthype--which is a great site for boxing and MMA news & interviews--I rarely post there and probably haven't even hit a 100 posts yet. This is my favorite site GF and Boxingfanatics would be #2.

As for the fight itself I could actually see Pacquiao lose this. I know Clottey is a classic underachiever but he has a high motivation factor going for him here. The criticism from the Cotto fight likely had him starving for the oppotunity to redeem his mistake of not closing strong. Clottey has also been wanting to fight the best and this is his chance.

As for the style matchup I'm not sure Pacquiao will really be able to hurt Clottey enough. Cotto affected Clottey more to the body because Cotto is heavy handed. I think Pacquiao's punches are more of the stinging variety so the body shots won't be as bad. Clottey is going to catch most of the upstairs shots on his arms and the ones that do land might not be that bad for him anyway.

Clottey is very good counter puncher and remember JMM was very effective against Pac with counter punching. I don't think Clottey will hit Pac enough to stop him but it wouldn't shock me if he did. However the judges would never give Clottey a decision on Pacquiao so I'd expect him to lose on the cards even if most might feel Clottey actually won it and moreso than against Cotto.

Dangerous fight for Pac. He actually should have taken on a lighter touch and waited for the Berto-Mosley winner which they already say they're considering after Clottey.

Floyd should take the Morales approach that he had with Barrera. If i can't beat him, upstage him. Fight and beat a better fighter than Clottey aka Williams.

He lost via split decision and when that happens a return title shot is not uncommon. (nor is getting shut out of the picture for a while, it just depends)

However, in this case, it just so happens that Clottey is rated the WBO's #1 contender with Cotto rated #2. Since Cotto just got ko'd in his last fight, I don't have a problem rating Clottey above him even though he lost to Cotto in his last fight.

It would be a great move on Floyd's part for historical and critical purposes. It may even increase his take on a subsequent Pacquiao fight. And, it may not be as dangerous as a lot would think.

But it ain't happening. A guy willing to blow a $40M payday over suspected steroid use of an opponent isn't going to take a chance on Paul Williams.

Clottey is a CHOKER and a negative boxer, why would anybody be excited about it after being so close of having the biggest fight in a loooooong time? Like I said before, unless either of this 2 fight Mosley, fuck them. Clottey is a lame selection, the big choker hasn't won a big fight and won't start here.
