If Manny fights to his potential then no, I really don't see Cotto being very competitive. There are of course the intangibles about Pac never having experienced a real punch from a welterweight etc, but if Manny takes the punch and handles it well, then Cotto is in trouble.

Cotto will hurt Manny badly. Roach will feel bad for insisting on that fight. Hatton was perfect for Manny. De La Hoya was weight drained. Cotto is comfortable at that weight and will dish some punishment to his smaller opponent. The canon jab will untrack Manny and it will be downhill all the way from there.

AGREED! Cotto's jab will be the key as I stated before! It will be a major weapon!

Mitchell, come on, you're clued up enough to know it doesn't work like that.

Diaz was also (slightly) more competitive than Oscar and Hatton. Is he a better fighter than those 2?

Fuck even Solis was more competitive.

Manny was more going through the motions for those 2 fights, where as in his last 2 he was absolutely on point. They were big fights, big tests, and he performed to his optimum.

Cotto is also a big fight.

Cotto doesn't have the speed, defense, smarts or chin to beat Pacman, and honestly, if Pacman fights as well as he has in his last 2, I don't see Cotto being particularly competitive either.

The overrating of pacman has hit levels that I haven't seen a long time. How do you come up with THE BEST WELTERWEIGHT IN THE WORLD WONT BE COMPETITIVE WITH PACMAN? Who has been able to outbox Cotto? Who has been able to KHTFO with a chin shot? Speed can be countered with timing as we seen Cotto do against Mosley.

Pacman is much faster than Mosley, he is also younger, sharper, and a better boxer than Cotto.

    Hex prepare to be disappointed.

If you're this sure Cotto is going to win, it's going to be one miserable night for you.

Much faster than Mosley or even Judah? I totally disagree! If he is faster it's not by much. Cotto thus far has shown a vulnerability that can lead to defeat and that by fighting guys BIGGER than him that can take his shots and walk him down. Pacman can't and won't be able to wear Cotto down like Margarito and Mosley were able to do. Cotto has shown one hell of a chin taking BOMBS from the previously mentioned fighters. If Pac dosent knock Cotto the fuck out with a chin shot then he will be in for a world of hurt.

He only looks that way because he's never really been in with anyone who has good speed.

Funny, I remember Demarcus Corley walking into the ring about 20 pounds less than Cotto and still putting him onto queer street. Cotto has shown all kinds of vulnerabilities to different types of fighters.

Tell me when that has happened @ 147? Please move on from the 140 version of Cotto.

Why would I do that? The majority of his fights were at 140. His fights at 140 don't count all of a sudden?:notallthere: Not that he hasn't been vulnerable at 147 as well. A lot of people thought Clottey beat him, Margarito did beat him,Judah rocked him early, Mosleey caught his attention late and even Quintana got his attention with a bodyshot. Not sure what your point is, Cotto has shown tons of vulnerability in various fights. However Pacquiao is more like a 140 pounder so I think those fights need to be looked at as well. :kidcool:

Well Pac was KTFO 2 times! If you want to bring up Cotto @ 140 then we have to bring up the fact that Pac has been stopped before in devastating fashion I may add. Plus many people thought Marquez won both fights with him, a ARGUMENT can be made.

People can argue anything. "Many" people think Clottey and Mosley beat Cotto even if I don't agree. You can talk about Pacquiao's fights from 10 years ago if you think they are relevant. I think Cotto's fights at 140 are a lot more relevant than that. Whatever though, the end result is going to be the same.

Why don't you bet real money instead if you sincerely think Cotto is going to win?

    MOSLEY BACK IN THE MIX

After having Cotto stick to his guns of going no lower than 145 it appears Pacquaio has gone back to reconsidering Mosley, according to Fightnews.
Mosley had already given up on Pacquaio and told his promoter to cease all attempts at negotiations, however Mosley may well now be in the drivers seat.

In other news Cotto was found playing 18 holes of golf with ODLH the other day.

Personally I think Cotto and Shane should just have a rematch and freeze out Pacquiao and his punkass weight demands.

I think Mosley might actually be the tougher fight, physically, for Cotto...he'd probably be worse off after another 12 rounds with Mosley, if it went that long.

But  at this part of that piece on Fightnews:

Mosley is so desperate for that fight I think he already agreed to that weight.

At 143 Pacman probably slaps Shane about, but at 147 it's a fucking close call.

Mosley is bigger, and much stronger than Cotto and Floyd and Hatton etc.

Totally agree! Fuck Pac, he needs Cotto and Mosley not the other way around. Pac knows his options are limited @140. I'm glad Cotto stood his ground!!!!
