Margarito was certainly buzzed by Clottey a few times. He's been buzzed more than once. Cintron has 1 good punch, the rest is a bunch of looped and telegraphed punches. Margarito has a good chin for sure, but we're not talking about a Hagler like chin here.

That's true, but Cotto doesn't have Tommy Hearns type power either.

If Cotto stops Margarito i think it would be more likely to occur on cuts rather than shots to the chin.

or a shot to the BODY....both fighters will be coming out looking to land to the body...Cotto being the smaller/more skill guy will land more...maybe i'm tying the rope around my neck...but COTTO will win easily...

I Agree. He may stop him with a bodyshot though.

Cotto TKO 11. Thats my prediction now, and will be when they fight in July.

I got Cotto by late KO from body shots. It looked to me that at certain points in the Cintron fight Margs was looking a bit gassed and I think the wars and time in the game is catching up to him.

On another note, I don't think Cotto put that much time in the gym to face a scrub like Gomez and as impressive as he was he didn't look as sharp as he did in the Mosley fight. I think he'll take Margs a lot more seriously and be that much better on fight night and I expect him to dominate Margarito. I think the difference will be Cotto's better placed shots, defense, and body work.

Cotto will win a decision. When Cotto can't hurt you he cruises, a la Mosely and NDou.

It suprises me how many people are in denial about how bad Cintron sucks. he has no sense of distance, poise in the ring, or any defense what so ever. Ths makes Toney ready for Cotto? I don't think so and my view is confirmed in absolute fashion: double L thinks Margarito will win. The truth is that Margarito could not win with all of Neil's midgets in there against Cotto!

Maybe Toney is a lot better than his comp would indicate this is the only conceivable way he has a chance against Cotto.

I agree. I actually don't think Cintron could beat Judah after watching him the other night. His body language was just terrible as he seems to just not be tough at all and likely a bigger mental midget than Judah.

Let's be fair about Cintron though. The guy started boxing in his 20's he was more of a wrestler in highschool and college.

I never saw him as a guy who was supposed to be something special. Actually I think he has overachieved in the little time he has boxed.

He even managed to win a belt and put himself in the picture among the best at 147 at a moment where the division is deep.

But he was never going to be some great fighter. He's had power and that is the reason he's gotten this far.

Judah on the other hand had crazy natural talent and was hyped since he was an amateur. I think Duva called him "Whitaker with Power" or some crazy shit like that. :eeeek:

Judah is a guy who has definately underachieved.

maybe you guys are seeing something I'm not.

Margarito is a wide open target, with slow hands, who throws looping punches.

He is made to order for Cotto. If Cotto decides to box, he'll win a decision no questions asked, if margarito makes him fight a war, look for Margarito to be stopped either from a bodyshot, or an accumulation of punishment.

Uh-oh,........... Here's with this Cotto is an unstoppable, unmoveable, unhurtable, unrelenting beast type shit, Margarito aint fucking Ndou, Moor-lignaggi or Oktay Urkal,..... Cotto will actually RUN, and he'll run very, very HARD:crafty: !!!, anyone claiming Margarito will be stopped deserves an emu egg busted over the skull, it's moronic to claim that in a trade off, Margarito is going to get hurt and Cotto wont flinch, lol... didn't Mosely expose a little something about Cotto's reputation as.....ah?... a FREIGHT TRAIN?.....pfffft,,,... Illuminati calls it "lead protecting with smart skills"...

If Cotto does win, it will be by boxing on the retreat, he's going to go through hell to get to the end of this fight, as does everybody who takes on Margarito, sorry gentleman, but Cotto wont dare try outslugging Margarito, and if he does, Antonio will welcome that, and it's the way he will definitely win.

I predict a draw, that should have gone Margarito's way. Bob Arum wont allow a blemish on the record of his jewell.

Well my feeling is he will test your will and if he see's that a opponent aint going nowhere then he turns to plan b to win the fight the easiest way possible. I think the HBO crew pointed this out Saturday night.

No matter what happens in the ring, I can garantee you that Double L will find of way of pretending Margarito really won.

A great Mexico vs Puerto Rico war in the making and hopefully the first of a 3-fight rubber.

Margarito takes everything Cotto can dish out and gives it back to Cotto's body over 12 rounds.
Cotto's hands aren't as fast as Williams and he isn't southpaw either (as was Santos).
He also gives away height and reach advantage that Williams had.

    Margarito pts12 Cotto

    Terrible post. Absolutely awful.

You say he doesn't have the height and reach of williams, but neglect to point out that he is far, far better than Williams in every other conceivable way

Also you're wrong about handspeed, cotto's hands are faster, and also a lot more accurate. He's also far less hittable than williams, williams has shit defense.

Last but not least : Williams is a volume punching slapper while Cotto is a hard and accurate combination puncher. But anyway, they are two very different fighter. There's not much to learn from that fight regarding Cotto vs. Margarito.

I'll concede that if Cotto has some success with switch-hitting then he wins, but he's facing a harder puncher than folks think.
And if scrubs like 'Chop-Chop' can wobble Cotto and Torres almost KO him... :dunno:

I like Margarita and was impressed with his win over Cintron but Cotto is improving at great speed and Margarita wont swallow up Cottos shots the same way he did with Cintron..

    Cotto KO 8-9

Cotto simply knocks out every body he fights, he's a dreaded "bone-breaker", "look at what he did to Paulie Moor'lignagi's FACE! :eeeek: ..and, and and and and Cotto's knocked out much bigger and tougher men than Margarito during his impressive Edwin Valero-esque streak.

No Cotto doesn't ko every body he fights...but he wouldn't lose to the likes of Daniel Santos, Paul Williams or Rodney Jones....

it's foolish to suggest that cotto would win if the two go toe-to-toe.

i'd give cotto all the props in the world if he does.

But he couldn't even stop little ass Paulie, Chinny Judah almost lasted 12 and he couldn't hurt Mosley at all.
