I mustve had a terrible angle from ringside for that bout because it appeared to me that cotto outboxed and outspeeded him in at least 9 or 10 rounds.

Well, to be honest, I thought the Ndou fight was closer than 9-3 and if anybody was beaten up in the Williams-Margarito fight, it was Williams.

 

Nonsense. Marge was dominated and TAMED for the majority of that fight, he only started fighting in the last few rounds.

And Cotto won 8 rounds at worst.

And the fact is, as of yet, nobody has beaten Cotto up.

Cotto = Undefeated

Marge = 5 losses and soon to be 6 if he fights Cotto.

 

Williams landed more punches and won the fight, narrowly.

But Margarito's punches clearly had more impact, and Williams was more hurt in the late rounds than Margarito ever was in the fight.

 

The FACT REMAINS, Margarita Certainly WASN'T an "Untamed Beast" N the Williams Fight...

It's ADMIRABLE that he Could Mount a Comeback to Make the Fight Close, but he MOST DEFINITELY Was TAMED by Paul Williams...

Marge looked very tame to me. In fact ever since round 1 I was sort of wondering when he would ever become untamed and start fighting.

And mitchell - I didn't think the fight was close at all. I thought williams won 8 or 9 rounds, I forget which.

And bear in mind, I was rooting hard for Marge, because I was a williams doubter and laid some money on phoney burrito.

My point is even against Williams, Clottey and Santos - only one of whom I thought beat Margrito, and that by 2 points - Margarito wasn't an easy fight.

The formula for beating Margarito is known and can certainly be replicated by other fighters, but you're going to have to take some punishment in order to get it done.

Some fighters can take it and win, others can't.

Some fighters don't want to take it to begin with.

Haha I just read this thread and realized at first I picked Cotto until I looked at the fight closer. Glad I didn't stick with that pick and bet him like I was going to. Instead I went just the opposite. :mj:
