Williams should stop throwing so many punches a round and put more weight and explosiveness in his punches, like Hearns did. He needs to time his footwork so that when he delivers his punches his feet are on the ground and his weight is behind the punch. He also needs to learn how to fight inside so that he can protect himself inside. I don't agree with the majority of posters regarding William's defense. He does not need defense he needs to be able to counter everything right away.... He could get there first everytime with his reach and have time to step back and off. Right now Williams has athetic ability but Mayweather would counter him to death, Cotto would destroy him inside and outjab him... Judah would probably knock him out the same way he did Spinks inthe second fight.... Williams is not a top tiere guy yet.
This statement makes absoloutely no sense whatsoever. Williams would be in range of Cotto at any distance, but ESPECIALLY on the inside. Paul is simple a shit defender, and Cotto is one of the most accurate punchers in boxing.
nobody can understand that....Williams will fight Cotto on the inside..but not be in Cotto range? :dunno: why don't you explain it 2 me..
the difference bewtween inside and outside fighting isn't strictly the distance between the two fighters. there's a stylistic distinction. and that's why williams could fight cotto "inside" and not be in range for cotto's body shots or upper-cuts.
Nonsense. Because of the way Paul leans and bends, he'd be a prime candidate for Cotto's body shots....but it shouldn't be the body shots that concern a Williams fan in a fight with Cotto, ironically enough. Peace.
For the amount of aggression and offense he generates, Cotto has quite good defense...and I've said this from as early as could be. When he's on point and focused, he integrates defense and offense very well. He can parry, he moves his head and from the waist, keeps his chin tucked (which is why he gets clocked on the temples), he even uses his shoulders. Underrated footwork, too. He's no defensive wizard and can be hit, but he is well-rounded. Peace.
if you're going to call my post non-sense, and then put forth the effort to justify your claim, at least address the post i've made. did you read it? doesn't seem like you did.
