spinks would shut margarito out! now I've heard it all. spinks would be running, grappling and holding on for dear life against margarito the last half of the fight just as he was vs karmazin.
Dearest, sweetest woodknip,.. There have been many sad pilgrimages in our messageboard time,.. ...Wlad's groupies made thier treck to Vitali, Roy's dick nibblers scrambled to Fraud, Tito's humiliation sent a wave of misery into Cotto's arms,... and now it's that time again,.. ALL ABOARD IRON BOY!!!! :::::bears::bears::crafty::crafty: Fucking 'Iron boy' ::
Have to disagree, MTF. Hatton is not as durable, would not have the size advantage, nor have the stamina, workrate over the second half, and sheer height/reach/stride advantage Margarito had over Cotto. Or the power Margarito has. Close fight? Yes, probably. But Hatton would not have stopped Cotto or "done the exact same thing." Not at 140, and certainly not at 147. Peace.
You are smoking crack bro! No fucking way in hell does Hatton ever beat Cotto. He doesn't have the chin to do what Margarito did. No way, no chance in fucking hell!
MTF is on crack! Cotto would have stopped Hatton late at 140, and slaughtered him at 147. Theres no comparing Hatton with Marg. Ricky has made a career off beating super stiffs, and has beens. The combinations from Cotto that Marg walked through would have planted Hatton on his back, even at 140.
Ike comes out of hiding for this crap? :: Cotto loses to a top welterweight after winning titles in two divisions and he's been "exposed as a fraud" ? Cotto is anything but a fraud. He is an elite fighter who happened to run into one hell of a tough guy in Margarito. Nothing more, nothing less.
Exactly... Cotto has 1 of the BETTER Resumes of ANY Current Fighter...& he JUST Lost his 1st Fight... NATHAN "Fraudulent" about Him OR his Reign... REED:nono:
pathetic thread. cotto is an accomplished fighter shy of few more decent wins to become a hall of famer. i would look for a fight against ricky after he beats malignaggi. cotto would beat his ass thoroughly. a rematch against mosley is a viable option if he mosley impresses against mayorga. or even clottey if he knocks judah out.
Reed please, It was Fraud who lost last night, not Cotto, stop emulating a hurtful reality through other fighters, deal with the pain, do not deferr it, because that's what spree killers do until they explode.
If you can accept an eight-year wait to feel vindicated over the claim that someone's a fraud, then God bless ya. I could be mistaken, but I thought Kellerman was going for Margarito all the way, to the point where he was patting himself on the back once the fight hit later rounds and it became clear that Cotto all but had the fight beaten out of him. Lampley was horrible, an absolute shill from the beginning of the broadcast to the end of the fight. But it wasn't just for Cotto, basically for Top Rank in general. It's amazing how much announcers sway from fight to fight. I can understand having an overall agenda within a network, but not one that changes every week.
Clottey and Mosley would tough fights, physically, for Cotto. Not sure that's the best way for him to come back from this loss. I think he'll probably rebound from it, but I wouldn't recommend he do it quickly (as in the next fight for either Clottey or Mosley).
Seriously, Lamps is the one who needs to go - not Larry. I am so fed up with his c*cksucking. Since 1997. I didn't notice who Max was rooting for but that's usually because I tune him out. Manny sounded like he may have been rooting for Margarito.
It was kind of funny. Early into the fight Manny questioned whether or not Cotto would be able to keep withstanding the pressure as the fight went into the late rounds. Lampley called this "audacious" to question. ::
Kellerman and Steward were actually both pretty consistent about the fight getting rough in the middle and later rounds, though I didn't pay close enough attention to hear whetehr they were actually picking Margarito. Lampley was his usual embarrassment, especially in rounds 9 and 10 when he was continuing that "Margarito hasn't landed anything big" theme. Also, calling them "audacious" because they thought Cotto might tire late was curious...considering Cotto he clearly did against Mosley and this fight was going to be much more like the Mosley fight than the Judah fight.
One other thing I'll mention about the coverage of this fight...it's there's distinct themes in the reporting of it. After Pacquiao-Diaz, the theme was Pacquio was the new P4P #1 (replacing Mayweather). This was all over the stories coming out of Vegas last month. After this fight, the theme seems to be Cotto was one of the only top fighters willing to fight Margarito....which Mayweather (in particular), Mosley, et turned down. This has shown up all over the pre and post fight reports, both on the internet and the newspapers. It just seems a little too ubiquitious for my taste, like there's an awful lot of PR in the press these days. Maybe it's just a Top Rank phenomenon (like Pavlik as the face of American boxing, as Lampley put forth in the Lockett telecast). ::
:atu: Exactly... Reminds REED of those who Waited 15-16 YEARS to Feel "Vindicated" about Roy Jones... REED:kidcool:
I see that you still love Puerto Rican fighters! If I remember right everyone is a bum for you especially midgets...correct?
Exactly. Jake is done. Everyone but Stewart were on board. Lampley almost struck Kellerman and Manny for implying the fraud cotto was mortal.
I actually thought Pavlik's defense was fucking horrible against Lockett. He was so easy to hit. But Lockett had nothing for him to rock him.
I can't agree with Cotto being a fraud. I think he's an elite fighter but I still couldn't see him beating the beast, Margarito. I'm pissed off at myself for not betting more money and being intimidated by the odds makers and 'expert" opinions. If I were making the odds on this fight from the get go I'd make Margarito a 2-1 favorite, just my opinion and how I view the fighters. Then I see the odds come out 3-1 for Cotto and all the so called experts picking Cotto. Instead of going all out, I bet but not big at all. I was thinking maybe they knew something that i did't know. DUMBASS!!! :crying:
Yeah, I feel vindicated. I don't care if he was undefeated for 10 years, 14 years or anything. Fraud is a misrepresentation of a material fact. Cotto was held out to be an elite fighter. Even you used to agree with me that he was moved "smartly." His resume was crafty, but to a person with true insight you could see it was a straw house. You people can cry about the years, the number of fighters, the fact is Cotto still hasn't fought an A level fighter. He barely beat Mosley who was the best he fought. Again, I told everyone for years he was not an elite fighter. He is already proven not to be. He lost to Antonio fucking Margarito. Not just lost, he was nearly killed, dominated and made to quit. I know I post over the top shit but this isn't such a time. Cotto is a fraud. He was moved ridiculously cleverly and he was beaten by a solid B level fighter. Again, dominated and made to quit. The problem is media shills like you. Instead of doing your job by calling out HBO , the east coast hype machine and begging Cotto to step up instead you point to FUCKING IRRELEVANT things like 8 years undefeated, x amount of title defenses. The dude had money backing, corporate backing and still never fought anyone risky until now. Let's not even say that. If Cotto were as elite as you clowns said; he'd have destroyed a solid but talentless fighterlike Margarito. Am I saying Cotto is a bum. No He is a good fighter but not even close to elite. Some of us non-shills have been saying this for years. So take you 8 years and shove them where the good lord split ya.
Cotto is a very good fighter, but there's some truth to what Ike is saying in terms of people (the media) getting overexcited about him and saying false things. I guess you can say that about lots of fighters, but I was thinking of how during the HBO Countdown show, Jabba Rafael saying "Cotto has moved remarkably fast since the time he turned pro". For a highly touted Top Rank fighter with an extensive amateur background, he was moved along slowly. He fought a nice list of solid fighters with different styles, but most guys with the type of backing that Cotto has, don't take as long to fight the top guys in their weight class as Cotto did.
REED Can't Agree w/this @ All... Since 2004, REED has NO Problems w/Who Cotto has Been Fighting, Overall... Carlos Maussa - Took Maussa's "O" from him...Later Went on to KO Vivian Harris for a Jr. Welter Title... Victoriano Sosa- DESTROYED Sosa Right after Floyd STRUGGLED w/him... Lovemore N'Dou- After he Gave Sharmba Mitchell ALL he Could Handle... Kelson Pinto- UNDEFEATED @ the Time, Owned an Ammy Win Over Cotto... Randall Bailey- Former World Champion IN the Weight Class Cotto Fought him @... Chop Chop Corley- Former World Champion IN the Weight Class Cotto Fougt him...HURT Floyd as Badly as Anybody EVER has, prior to Facing Cotto... Mohammed Abdullaev- Highly Touted Prospect w/1 Loss AND an Olympic Win Over Cotto... Ricardo Torres- HUGE Puncher...Went on to Win a Jr. Welter Title... Gianluca Branco-:shit: Paul Malignaggi- STILL a Player @ 140 & just MIGHT Beat Hatton... Carlos Quintana- STILL a Player @ 147...CLEARLY BEAT Paul Williams, something Margarita COULDN'T Do...Cotto DESTROYED him... Oktay Urkal- :shit: Zab Judah- EXCELLENT Win over a Still Relevant Former Champ... Shane Mosley- Getting Loooong N the Tooth, but STILL a World Class Welter... Alfonso Gomez- :shit: Antonio Margarita- Self Explanatory... Since 2004, U're Going to B VERY Hard Pressed to Find a BETTER Resume, Dog...Someone like a Manny Pac Probably Does, but U WON'T Find More than 2-3 Guys who've done MORE N that Timeframe, N REED's Opinion... N LESS than 2 Full Years, Cotto's Fought Quintana, Judah, Mosley AND Margarita...That Certainly AIN'T the Stuff that "Frauds" R Made of... REED:mj:
I know he's not a fraud and has beat a lot of solid fighters, I'm saying most guys with the type of backing he has, from HBO and Top Rank, and with the extensive amateur background he has, usually fight top guys sooner. De La Hoya, Mayweather, Taylor, Vargas, etc... Some of those wins (Quintana, Malignaggi, Maussa, etc..) look better in retrospect because of what they did after losing to Cotto, though.
I have an honest question. Overall who has the better resume and who has beaten bigger named fighters Cotto or Calzaghe? I'll Holla 5000
