This is similar to the line of thinking that the challenger has to TAKE the title from the champion, and any close rounds go to the champ. Total BS, that round was AS 10-8 AS THEY COME... PLUS the knockdown = 10-7
2 Totally DIFFERENT Deals... What U've Referenced is a FLAWED Boxing Theory (which REED has NEVER Subscribed to, by the Way)...What REED is Debating is a JUDGEMENT CALL... REED
REED Would Score it 10-8... Ward was Beating the SHIT Out of Gatti, DROPPED Gatti, then had Gatti Weather the Storm & TURN the Tide N the Latter Portion of the Round... Ward's Knockdown Makes it CLEARLY 10-8... REED
10-8 is the correct answer. Ward won the round pretty clearly even if you take the KD away. Gatti got the shit beat out of him for the first minute, he came back strong during the middle of the round and then proceeded to get his ass kicked around the ring for the last minute.
Exactly, my analogy was of just that, 'flawed boxing theory', when you take into account "the 12th Round of CLOSE Fight & MEMORABLE Trilogy....", when deciding on the score for that particular round. If a guy beats the pulp out of his opponent, then it doesn't matter what round of what fight it is, that round is 10-8 without the KD, 10-7 with the KD... Vasquez deserved to win the fight and did win the fight... BUT it SHOULDN'T have hinged on the judgement of the ref, in correctly though in some peoples eyes debatedly calling a knockdown in the 12th.. but it DID, because that SHOULD have been a 10-8 round without the KD.
But On this SAME THREAD, U've Completely CONTRADICTED your OWN Line of Thinking... 10-10 for the 9th Round of Gatti-Ward I??? REED:dunno:
9th of ward-gatti could've been a 10-7. ward dropped gatti, gatti came back, but ward nearly KILLED gatti in the last 10 seconds of that round. if it wasnt for senile cappuccino (who stood there and just watched gatti get pummeled), that fight would've been stopped.
I personally would have scored it a 10-8 had there not been a knockdown, but to make it a 10-7 round on my personal score card he would have had to knock Marquez down twice.
:: i was kidding I agree with 10-8 Ward for that round, they both brutalized each other, with Ward getting the better in that department plus the knockdown.
now your pushing it. It would have been controversial for the ref to stop the fight with seconds left in the fight. These are the type of fights that you have to let the guys fight. They had a war, it was competitive and it was a close fight. I think if the ref would have stopped the fight Gary Shaw would have rushed the ring and choke the ref.
It's domination OR a KD that makes for a 10:8 round. No rule says both combined add up to 10:7 you fuckers... ::
