Could Usyk beat any heavyweight greats?

Usyk from now, or Usyk in 2017/18? Usyk now is bigger and more experienced, and probably hits harder, but back then he was quicker, had way better stamina, and much more agile. Not to mention, he would still be like 215 when he was in the ring, so he wouldn't be that much smaller.

If so, I'd hesitantly pick him to beat Marciano and Holyfield.

I don't really think Marciano would be able to drag Usyk into enough prolonged exchanges to do the damage he needs to. I think Usyk's jab, speed, and feet would lead to him boxing Rocky and only being caught now and again with stray shots. Probably takes an early lead but it gets closer as Rocky wears Usyk down for a close Usyk decision.

As JoM said, Holyfield tended to make fights hard for himself. Moorer obviously used his jab and right hook to nick a close decision against an iffy Holy. I think if Usyk would've been in there doing that, he would've won wide. Wide enough to say that he'd most versions of Holyfield were saw. Both could win, but if forced to choose, I'd pick Usyk.

Then I'd give him a decent chance against Liston, Louis, Bowe and Vitali. All had issues with things Usyk brings to the table. I'm somewhat in middle on all of them, but I could probably be persuaded for any of them either way.


But as for Ali, Lewis, Tyson, Foreman, Holmes, Frazier, and Wlad; I wouldn't give Usyk much of a chance at all.

Is Usyk a better Hw than Michael Spinks?

 

Look at Marcianos performance vs La Starza in BOTH fights and tell me Usyk can't beat him.

 

I'd pick Spinks over Usyk. I see no reason why Spinks couldn't have also beaten Joshua's bum ass.

Moreover, while Usyk is technically speaking a better fighter than Ruddock and Bruno in a P4P sense, I'm not picking him over either H2H.

 

He brutally broke La Starza down in the rematch, then finished him in style. It's not like he went life and death.

 

I'm not sure how you can give Usyk a decent chance against Liston, Louis or Bowe. Vitali maybe but I'd favour Vitali. I don't see a planet where Usyk competes with Liston so thats off the table immediately. Bowe would believe in his size and power getting to Usyk and would do that imo. Louis would have some difficulty with the movement but I feel like he would win a dullish fight with Usyk on the backfoot all night and Louis front foot landing decent shots but Usyk in pure defensive mode, similar to the Chisora fight in large parts.

 

Louis could lose to Usyk. We have to believe Usyk is as dangerous as guys like Galento,FFS.
