huh? he was knocked down, and hurt badly. And Judah landed his left hand easily before his mind failed him.

the Judah fight does nothing for your argument. if anything, it hurts it.

also, the Corley fight hurts it. He got hit a lot in that fight. A lot.

And n'Dou got his share in too before he was taken apart.

Who was knocked down and hurt badly?

  3. Double L

    Double L Book Reader

PBF was. by Judah. and he was also hurt badly by Corley.

  4. Hex-One

    Hex-One "Twinkle Toes" McJack

I agree. Corley rocked him and Judah scored a clear knockdown. :blobbox:

Oh, I thought you meant KD and hurt bad by Judah.

  6. Double L

    Double L Book Reader

well, you could debate how "badly" he was hurt, but besides the knock-down, he was frozen by one of Judah's left hands, and lay against the ropes covering up to recover...

  7. Tam Tam

    Tam Tam "Twinkle Toes" McJack

I don't think Judah "hurt" Mayweather at all.

  8. Double L

    Double L Book Reader

either first or second round. i'd just say, watch it again.

you know the time i'm talkin about right - when PBF gets hit and falls into the ropes coverin up - you don't think he was hurt at that point?

  9. Tam Tam

    Tam Tam "Twinkle Toes" McJack

I know when you're referring too, but I've seen Mayweather hurt before. We all have. Maybe he felt the shot, but I don't think he was "hurt". "Hurt" is what he was in the Corley fight.

    Anyway, semantics.

    Terry Norris with Hagler's chin.

McCallum is close to being a perfect fighter. Maybe some better hand-speed?

Norris w/ Hagler's chin vs. McCallum with RJJ's speed, who do you pick to win that one?

  12. Xplosive

    Xplosive X-MOD Bad Motherfucker

Speaking of RJ. Fuck it, I'll go with a prime Roy with Hagler's chin as a perfect fighter.

  13. Double L

    Double L Book Reader

so you think prime RJJ with Hagler's chin beats prime McCallum with RJJ's speed?

  14. Tam Tam

    Tam Tam "Twinkle Toes" McJack

Perfect fighters jab and understand defense, X. RJ was the best athlete possibly of all-time. His actually techniques and skills wouldn't have worked against other great fighters, IMO.

  15. Xplosive

    Xplosive X-MOD Bad Motherfucker

Ask Toney, who you called the best technical fighter, if Roy needed a jab. I'm not one of those RJ fans who'll tell you that Roy would have beaten anyone in history, but theres few fighters I'd have picked to beat him in his prime. Most are at 175, cause I dont think any 168 pounder in history coulda beaten him.

    Tam Tam "Twinkle Toes" McJack

I also referred to what Toney needed. His skills are about the best in the sport. Always have been. But skills alone don't make the full equation. His slow feet and lack of handspeed vs. Jones left him impotent. That and he's lazy.

Between the 4 they won 4 rounds. Bravo.

Toney didnt lack handspeed.:nono: Footspeed yes, but not handpeed. James always had quick hands, check out the combos he was putting together against Barkley. Not saying his handspeed was blazing, but it was well above average.

  19. Erratic

Judah may have stunned him a bit in round 4 with that straight left. Mayweather went to the ropes but avoided all the follow-up. Same thing with Corley in round 4. I think Mayweather was more buzzed by that overhand shot from Corley than he was from that straight left from Judah. But I don't think he was that hurt, just stunned.

Yeah I think Toney has always had quick hands. Compared to Roy he was slow, but Roy's speed is among the greatest ever in boxing. Toney's hand speed was good and he put together his combos well.

Yeah, Floyd fought @ 135 three months earlier against Burton/Augustus.

Chico announced that he was going to fight @ 135 and relinquished his IBF belt. He also said he'd fight Floyd at any weight, so Floyd agreed to it at 130.

Whether or not it really affected Chico, who knows, but Corrales was still fighting at 130 three years later and had one of his biggest wins versus Casamayor at the weight.

  21. Tam Tam

    Tam Tam "Twinkle Toes" McJack

I said in reference to the Jones fight. A fight with his poor feet AND being slower than Jones, simply had no way to win.

    Never said he was slow.

  22. Double L

    not even the point.

  23. Double L

he definitely lost his legs against corley - from a left, not the right - the right hurt him too - but not as much - but my only point here is that if you separate foot-work and defense (which is what the thread does), then Toney's defense is better than PBF's.

  24. ?H?L?QU?L?$

    ?H?L?QU?L?$ Leap-Amateur

Footwork is part of defense. There's no way Toney has better defense. Toney has a much proven chin, that's it.

  25. Double L

    Double L Book Reader

did you read the thread you're participating in? because if you did, you'd see that its premise is that the two are separate.

oh, by the way, i hate PBF. and i won't give him credit no matter what he does. and no matter what, i'll never recognize his skills, and i'll always focus on his weaknesses, and exaggerate his short-comings. now, having said that, is it too much to ask to stay on topic?

this is the anti-thesis of your stance when it comes to PBF, implying that i have just as much right to have it as you do yours:

    "PBF is the best."
"Nothing he does can ever be surpassed."
    "Noone can beat him."
"Even when he's hurt he's not."
"He doesn't need to fight guys he can clearly beat."
"He's fast and good and strong and quick."

That's because you're only a FAKE Jones fan...a fairweather Jones fan...a fan that's scared to be ridiculed by the non-Jones fans...so he wants to pretend he's the most objective of fans. :tease:

In that regard you're like the persons that Jesus spoke about in that Bible that are neither hot or cold, but luke warm...and as such should just be vomitted!:tease:

Prime Roy Jones, beats ANYONE from 160-168 AND Pound for Pound. Ezzard Charles, Bob Foster and Michael Spinks may have beaten him at 175lbs...but that's about it.
