I predicted Fraud would win a stinking split decision, via elbow flicks, forearms, backtwisting, and running like he usually does, and that it would be a static ball of mutual fouls, but there you go, a ko?.. crickey, he hasn't stopped anyone in YEARS,.. but this win, albeit a good one, still doesn't mean Fraud's "The Man" at 147,..?..as Cotto and Williams both have better victories at this weight.
Your the one who's getting played. That whole Floyd asshole/trash talking routine done before the fight was just used as promotion. Do you really think he actually hates Hatton? I'm sure he meant it, 10 rounds in the ring will make you respect your opponent. If anything, it was the stuff Hatton said that was for real. Floyd was talking shit to promote the fight, Hatton was talking shit cause he legitimately had dislike for Floyd, and Floyd got into his head enough for Ricky to start talking shit.
"He'll be doing more back pedaling against me than he did in dancing the stars" ^^^^ Who's dancing with the "stars" now Ricky?
dsimon writes: Not only but, I knew he would not be able to counter Rickey off the shoulder Roll.... and he used a jab instead. I picked Hatton so I need to respond here I picked Hatton because if anybody out there was going to beat him before he loses a step I thought Hatton would be the one... I was mistaken because nobody will be the one. Forget about Cotto who Floyd can counter easily. He would tear Williams up inside and confuse that poor kid outside imo. You can't beat Floyd with punch count anymore than yu can by trying to take him to deep water in a brawl. But I like Floyd so I have no problems with this thread. From now on I am sticking to my original idea that the person who would need to beat Floyd would be a slickster with a lot of polish.... somoene like Sweet Pea... and there is no one on the norizon like that. Its good for Cott o he didn't piss Floyd off by calling him out last night :dunno:.
dsimon writes: I feel cheated though because in every other respect this fight went the way I thought it would. Floyd had to adapt to Hatton shooting into the gap faster than he was used to, Hatton got a few moments out of that and for the first few rounds he was frustrTING Floyd. The problem is that Rickey could not capitolize on that. Floyd was too good. What impressed me was that Floyd started using a jab instead of the roll to catch Hatton coming into the gap. pure genius. Then Hatton became ordinary and had no response for this adjustment and that was it. When Floyd started to catch him coming in it was only a matter of time. Honestly Cotto would not do as well as Hatton. There is no way he gets close enough to Floyd... Hatton has the virtue of having the tools to close the gap, but he could not capitolize. He won the first few rounds (symbolicakally) by getting some shots in and controlling tempo, and that was it. Great fight to watch, one for the ages imo. opcorn:
Yeah. Floyd was outstanding, and did his thing. You see, thats just it, Floyd did HIS thing. His speed, accuracy, timing and inside defence were all excellent. Should he have been allowed to? Maybe, maybe not. Its irrelevant now. Personally, i think Cortez fucked up badly, by accident or otherwise. But Floyd, when doing his thing, does fight and insanely good fight. Sure, he fouled like a cunt and kidded the referee. But thats not Floyds fault. He beat what was put in front of him, and he can't help it if the referee is in the business of disrupting other fighters and warning their corners about stopping the fight just cos they got hit clean a few times in a round. No arguments with Floyd Mayweather, good bad or indifferent.
Yeah. Hatton got pushed into the wild pressing game too much by Preacher of all people. Hatton went looking wildly for it when he would have been best advised to keep it as tight as possible and look to outwork Floyd. I only had Floyd 2 up after 9 rounds. Ironically- ask Mustard, this is NO BS {I PM'd him before the fight} I dreamed Hatton would land 47 punches and go down twice in the fight and lose. Shit. I shoulda put money on that.
I take my crow....and this fight taught me a lesson too - to stop picking with my heart over my head. I keep convincing myself that fights are gonna turn out how the way I wish they would. But I realsied right as the fight was starting that if I was putting money on this fight it would have been on Floyd. Same story with many, many fights prior to this. Thats gonna be my acid test before I make picks from now on - 'who would my money be on'? opcorn:
"I was wrong and LOK was right, Hatton got SODOMIZED all through the night, Floyd battered and domintated him and made him cut, I wish Floyd would stick his man love, in my butt " Funniest shit ever!!! :: ::
I agree..he did most of the holding in the first 6-7 rounds.... so in the process he beat HATTON at his own GAME...
Ugly fight,...just as i predicted. Floyd was able to potshot Hatton and avoid anything damaging. The only real shock here was that Floyd legitimately kayoed Rickey. As bad as I hate to admit it....ain't nobody beating Floyd below 160.
I had it 6-2-1 and can easily see 7-2. At most, Hatton won 3 rounds. I can't see 5-4 at all. IMHO, if you're scoring that, you're simply assuming Hatton was automatically winning every time the fight was at close quarters or on the ropes.... And that's not right. Part of the "brilliance" of what Mayweather did is that even in the clinches he was often the better man and negated openings for Ricky while delivering clean short shots. Peace.
Mayweather did shamelessly hold the first 3-4 rounds. But by round 5-6 the holding was mutual - and after that, most of it was initiated by Hatton. Peace.
Mayweather "out-roughed" and wore down an opponent who is used to doing exactly the same thing to his opposition. Period. 1 or 2 point deductions would have made no difference. And even though early he was over-officiating, Cortez did increasingly let the fight go in the clinches....and Hatton was still outfought. Peace.
u waiting since 2005 for Hatton vs. Mayweather....and for it to end like that...Mayweather smashing a left hook into Hatton face..and then hatton headbutting the turnbuckle... at least the Broncos won...today...
