Lebedev is a Southpaw whom I believe has some sort of military career behind him, he wears a 9th Company vest into the ring- a blue and white hooped vest. He is genuinely tough, is better skilled than first appears and can hit hard. He dismantled Enzo Mac pretty handy and then blasted out Alexander Alexeev in Germany in what was a very good performance. He can crack.

Huck is a strong, physical guy who came late to boxing and who has had fallings out with Sauerland before coming back into their fold. Cunningham was too much for him, stylistically, and destroyed him. It remains to be seen how much he has improved, if at all, since then. To call him face-first would be harsh but he relies on pressure and work rather than on any particular skill-set.

i saw cunningham vs. huck when it happened. that was a pretty good fight, but cunningham was just too much for young huck at the time. it might be a different fight now. huck's advantage now is his activity and the fact the cunningham is fortunate to fight once a year. i still think cunningham's the best crusierweight in the world should be the favorite to win this tourney.

The cruiserweight division was hot then for some reason the networks stopped showing it.

Yeah, something to do with a big body of water and what lay on one particular side of it. And time zones. Nothing like time zones to ruin good fighters. I have seen world class fighters ruined by living in the wrong time zones. It just corrodes their skills, like acid on steel.

I think what happened is Adamek and Cunningham didn't have a rematch, and then Adamek moved up in weight.

The division now pretty much resides outside the US...even Cunningham fights for a European promoter.

    Those areas have been drained.

    I don't know what that means, but I assume it's Klitschko-related.

No...I was referring to the USA, and how it doesn't have too many great fighters, so the networks lose interest. The area has been drained.

Great cruisers make more money being above-average heavies.

Until that changes, and it might not, the division isn't going to stay popular for very long at any given time. Not unless some fighter is okay with making less money for a length of time while establishing his greatness at cruiser. Unlikely.

Cunningham is fighting Jan. 22nd next. His first fight with Sauerland was in June. So that is better for now. Bigger problem might be that he is 34 years old.

Huck beat Lebedev on a split decision, with one judge giving it to Lebedev by 116-112......house fighter got the other two cards.
