Why don't you respond to the point made.

Cotto has gotten ten times better since Torres. He has shown an ability to change tactics and box well when it suites him, his defense has improved and he had fought tough comp. Cotto deserves a gimme for his next fight and there is no compelling reason to think Margarito is on the same level as Cotto. Margarito is the one who turned down a fight with Cotto.

Well you have to understand that when you have a mother who managed to be dirt poor in LA and raise you and then get Doctorate in a field where the average length of time to recieve is about 6 years..... that you have certain privaleges.

Just an aside, claiming a PHD in chemistry and/or physics is the most frequently used bit of hyperbole used when someone wants to BS an advanced degree. The irony is that very few people get degrees in chemistry or physics because of the difficulty involved, so this adds to the laugh factor. A more convenient lie would be to claim a doctorate in English Literature, for example.

    On a Cotto Mayweather fight:

I think Floyd will fight Cotto eventually. It is sad that Mayweather is trying to fight Oscar again, I don't agree with it but we can all hope that Forbes beats Oscar so badly that Oscar can't get a gift decision.

    Cotto is a beast.

While, unfortunately, I agree with bama to a point, Floyd would handle him without much problem. Cotto is just too patient, he would get pot shotted shitless.

However, Cotto would FUCK Margarito up. Marge is average compared to Cotto, Cotto is MUCH better.

Actually, Cotto has said that Mayweather gives too many excuses.

It's pretty well-documented that at 140 Cotto was struggling mightily to make weight...especially the last few defenses.

He also fought quite recklessly against both Corley and Torres...and paid for it dearly. If you pop in tapes of his against other opponents, you see a much more methodical, tight, cautious, precision style - very unlike the free-swinging come-forward style he adopted for those two times when he was badly hurt. Badly.

I do believe from what I've seen that the move to 147 lbs. has significantly helped his chin, legs and stamina.

He was hurt briefly vs. Mosley to the body - other than that, I've always thought he won that fight quite clearly - whether he came forward or chose to box. The commentators were talking about how Cotto "boxing" was new - it is not. See his fights with Maussa, Abdullaev, and so on.

I never thought Judah hurt Cotto. People talk about round 1, but Cotto kept his wits about him after that left uppercut and continued to defend and retaliate.

He's fought two good, faste, accurate punchers at 147 and I haven't seen him hurt seriously, if at all.

Vs. Mayweather? It makes total sense to favor Floyd, but I think there are things about Cotto's style that will give PBF ALOT of trouble.

I actually think Miguel's methodical, calculated approach helps him in this fight. He is also much more quick-handed than he seems...which his opponents always mention.

    Peace.

Best argument made against Floyd so far. Seriously.

I think the fight with Cotto will happen. And Erratic & Donny, I agree that the recent lawsuit throws a wrench into those plans. It's a power play by Floyd. But, at the end of the day, enemies will always come together for the sake of making money. It's probably the best way Arum can pay him back.

Floyd is the #1 active moneymaker for HBO and a whole lot of other people. The fight will be made on his terms. The hype is already beginning; another brilliant showing by Miguel on April 12th in front of a packed house will make it reach ridiculous levels. This fight WILL go down. It is the biggest one in boxing.

I'd also add a victory over Gomez followed by one over Margarito will turn the Puerto Rican star into a legend - his star power will have reached its crescendo. And Mayweather will have a super fight he can't ignore. Way too good to pass up. Think Trinidad-Jones in their primes...times ten. Barring any losses, it'll happen.

It's kind of funny actually. When he can no longer argue he repeats the same bullshit like a broken record.
