I'd say boxing is in trouble, but the problem isn't the public tiring of it, or moving on to MMA, it's the pitiful fucking talent pool. Pac-man, JMM & PBF aside, there's barely anybody that would have made a top 20 p4p list in any other previous era.

Floyd has fought legit competition for years. It's because he is so good that he has a 0.

 

The guys he beat, Pacman murdered easier. And the guy doesn't even want to negotiate a Pacman fight. He doesn't even bring up Pac's name as a possibility as a future fight. Hell he doesn't even want a piece of Mosley.

Floyd's the one playing the race card, saying white people can't win at boxing, so they have to go and do something else.

And the funny part is that the UFC was started to showcase Brazilians (the Gracie family).

 

The biggest difference is, UFC 103 will be filled with good matchups from top to bottom, whereas the Floyd card will be a Main Event, and nothing else worth watching.

If boxing promoted it's undercard fighters like the built in marketing that MMA does, it would be a totally different story. Just because you know of the fighters, doesn't make them any better than they actually are. Not all MMA fighters are good:boohoo:

But you hit the nail on the head in your first sentence....boxing does nothing at all to market their undercard fighters. That strategy makes it hard to build new stars.

Maybee so. However Franlkin-Ortiz is the main event of UFC 103 and Mayweather-Marquez is the boxing main event. Mayweather and Marquez are top 3 p4p and Franklin and Ortiz are both washed up hype jobs. The fight is not even close in terms of quality.
