I go by watching the fights and here is what I saw:

Toney, fat out of shape with his skills in tact, vis a vis Toney was indeed a blow up cruiser.... I wouldn't argue that point. Yet this fat guy who should be about 30 pounds lighter beat Rahman up, countering his every punch.... Rahman said so as well in the post fight. Embarrassed the second best heavy in the division... A lot of people think Toney won that first Sam fight, me included.

Thats what I saw Barron. The judges don't always tell the story my friend. If Toney had gotten credit for the Sam victory He would have advanced further.

Your right about this... I have to concede that point, but he is the only legitmate punching threat besides Sam:dunno: .

He may catch Vlad flush with everything.... as a ripped 220 heavy, and Vlad may laugh at him, I am serious, we Don't know how Haye's power translates and every cruiser is different with one important caveat. Most cruisers don't go up as punchers. So you are quite right about the possability that Haye's power does not carry.

    But lets see shall we?

His real weight minus Buffet weight would be around 190 thats true. The reason why Toney is one of my favorites is that he can pull it off. Of course Haye is a puncher moving up that is unprecedented (I agree with you). One can predict from the past that a cruiser with good boxing skills can do well as a heavy.

Toney was a fucking tiny heavyweight, make no mistake.

He was literally a big bloated middleweight, he didn't a frame even approaching a real heavyweight frame.

His ars were pretty big after he had roided himself up to heavyweights.

But since heavies right now are such poor things, then one would assume that the lt.heavies and cruisers who still have ambition unlike them would walk all over the division but not even a great technician such as Toney actually did it.

toney did better than he should have done, seeing as he is an old, short, fat, burger king eating middleweight.

If the heavies are as brilliant as you believe, Toney should have been fucking destroyed by the heavies he faced.

Toney had more talent in his left nut then Haye has in his whole body.
    That is a fact

Haye said he'd fight two top 10 guys while Wlad takes care of his two mandatories. That sounds like a great plan, he should be looking to secure a fight with a ranked HW instead of making videos of him following Wlad around. Prove yourself!

I can't wait to see David Haye get laid the fuck out when he faces any top 50 heavyweight.. I think he needs to face "Touch of Sleep" for starters.

It's a good thing there's steroids, then.

The dropoff in size/talent in the heavyweight division begins after about one spot, so it's not like beating some heavyweights is comparable to others, and Toney had his opportunity to fight the current best - Klitschko - for over a million dolllar payday and a title...and he turned it down to fight Peter in an eliminator.

I think Toney did beat Peter in the first fight, but I also think that fight basically ended his career. Despite winning on points, in my mind, he was hit with a lot of power punches and I think he was damaged goods after the fight.

He was also reportedly in pretty bad shape after the Rahman fight as well.

Neither of which he technically won on the scorecards.

The two important fights he won, one of which was changed, came against fighters (Holyfield, Ruiz) who were once cruiserweights.

A loud talker who's accomplished nothing (at the weight) and wants to be given a title shot?

    I agree.

Toney was damn smart not to fight Vlad. I mean christ Toney is really about 190 pounds of muscle, the rest is fat. Vlad is truly too big for Toney... Although I think Joe Reine wanted to see that one. As a Toney fan I don't want him to hurt himself.

Haye is exciting but has done nothing at HW. If he fights Wlad tomorrow he gets KOed IMO.

2-3 fights then Wlad it could be a different story...could be..

Well, it was written into the contract Toney could use roids, I'd be all for it.

Toney talked a lot, but I don't he wanted that fight.

He is a title holder in his class no? You Margarito guys are just jeaolous because Antonio had a problem getting a fight with Cotto.:tease: Different circumstances though... the middle weight division is chock a block with guys, the heavy weight division had nothing.... absolutely nothing to offer with any entertainment value. Watching Povkin fight is like pulling teeth slowly. :shit: Haye adds an element that Brewster had when he was a force in the division. Why let some cutsey beat Haye on points? Then Vlad can duck him forever.

Yeah. He should fight some name opponents, at least.

I wouldn't mind seeing him in against Golota, who is sort of a poor man's Klitschko.

See if he can come close to matching Brewster's 1 round destruction of the Foul Pole.

he would have been insane to fight Vlad. That is unquestionable. He is just too small. Even against Peter when he lost a step he was overmatched in the power department.

    Can't fault your honesty.

That's probably what will happen, anyways.

Maybe one or two fights against recognizable names and then the fight next year.

HBO will probably try to give him the Briggs hype, as well, because they want better ratings for Klitschko's fights.

Haye fighting a couple of name contenders followed by Wlad seems like a fine plan IMO.

If his power carries to HW and he shows that he is quick enough against bigger men to effectively protect his suspect chin, then Haye will be very live against Wlad in 12-18 months. Anyone with good power and reasonably evenly matched in size has that chance against Wlad.

You gotta credit Haye for aiming high, though. And, for the first time in a long while, people are actually talking about the HW's again. For that at least, even if he gets stretched, we should offer thanks to the Hayemaker...
