You can clearly hear the girl say to him that the July 2nd date is still there- and David starts to blither on about he "aint signed nothing" but that is just the point- the July 2nd date remains vacant David as you wont sign off on the fight.

The manner in which Haye refers to his standing with the WBA is proof enough of where his true loyalties are. He is loyal to the title and not much more. He doesn't want to fight Chagaev, he knows if he doesn't he will be stripped and he knows then that he has almost NO say in any showdown with either brother.

Again, if he takes on Chagaev, does a number on him, he can claim he did a better job, and that time for Wladimir is nigh etc.

But there is a good chance he loses.

I will admit it- I think Wladimir deliberately delayed the Chisora fight to force Haye into a position where Haye was going to have to stand and deliver, or run.

The guy has more escape routes than a well planned bank robbery but I think he may be on the verge of running down a blind alley.

 

Wlad vs Adamek in September. Looks like haye will have to fight Vitali if he is to fight a Klitschko as it now seems Wlad is booked for the year.

I'm confused. Haye said he'd agreed to July 2nd then said he can't do it because what? He has to fight Chagaev or because the risk of Chisora scuppering the date by beating Wlad?

If he vacated the WBA belt, he could have the fight with Wladimir whenever he wanted it.

But he has grown so content with being referred to as "HW Champion David Haye", that he can't give up his little bauble, ill-gotten as it was.

Nobody cares about the belts. And with all the noise which has gone on beforehand, I find the notion that this fight needs 9 weeks worth of promoting to be more than amusing.

It reminds me of an old Japanese tale about how to catch an octopus. You can't use hooks with bait- so the fishermen use a red rag tied to a stick, and they lower it into the water. The octopus grabs the red rag and holds onto it. He knows he is being drawn to the surface, away from the safety of the rocks, but he just can't let go of that red rag. And so he is pulled to his doom.

Haye is the same. He wants that bauble so badly, despite the fact that he survived pretty well without it beforehand.

So the moral of the story is that WBA octopus Haye not for fight making red rag to a bull.
