'Beneath' kind of reminds me a bit of how the 1970s TV series went: lots more apes, astronauts on the run, episodes which showed parts of the post-nuclear apocalyptic holocaust.
However, when I was a kid, I loved both - now, they don't hold up too well:

    Blast from the past!

That tv show was an aberration. All humans were intelligent and the show didn't connect with the films except for the apes costumes.

I like part where the one ape says "Goodness... What are those things crawling out of her nose?" And the other ape says " Spaceballs" to which the ape replies "Spaceballs!? Oh shit, there goes the planet"

Beware the high octane trailer. Sure it looks good, but if the pacing, dialogue, or direction is off it'll be a shit sandwich. Personally I think it'll be even better than the first one, but it looks pretty predictable so far. You've got Ceasar and the new human trying to keep the peace while another high ranking official in both factions is pushing for war. It appears that certain actions from both of them will set that war in motion.

I don't think this is one of those movies that are supposed to be "unpredictable".

Did you guess the ending of "Titanic" also?

    :nana:

I hear what you're saying though. My biggest beef with the first movie along with the quick running time, was the villains were so one-dimensional, it was ridiculous. Lots of characters being assholes just for the sake of being assholes.

The Gary Oldman character in this one, seems to fit the same mold, based on the trailers.

I would think the chimps giving the humans diseases, which either cause oldman's daughter to die or be seriously injured is justification for his anger towards them.

Godfather - you mean Oldman will take on the modern-version's role of Governor Kolp from 'Conquest' and 'Battle'?

Just saw this movie yesterday. It was incredible. This was more of a side story of the planet of the apes story. Basically setting the stage for the all out war between humans and apes. It was done very well.

I heard Donald Sterling went to see it this weekend. He thought it was a documentary of the NBA.

Fuckin amazing! MUCH better than Rise of The Planet of the Apes, and THAT was a good movie. But this one honestly puts it to shame.
