I don't have a problem with your prediction. The fight is a toss up. your problem is how you scored the Dawson/Jhonson fight. :: you make it seem like it was impossible for Jhonson to deserve a W
..... It was impossible for Johnson to win. Actually it still is impossible all 3 judges saw it the way I did. artie:
I know we do, but honestly I thought Glen won that fight, and I am not a Dawson hater by any means. I just think he is a little overrated, I think it's one of those situations where people get overexcited by speed and combos, which is all well and good, nice to watch, but people get blinded by that and neglect to see that the rest of the package is nothing special.
Johnson was robbed against Dawson and as that was the only time I saw the guy fight I don't rate him. This is be an interesting fight there is a lot on the line for both guys. I think Tarver could get the UD.
It's all based on if Dawson is as stupid as he seems (yes that's sarcasm, I don't think the fighters I mention are stupid, just making a point)... Anyone who falls for Tarver's defensive routine gets taken out, one way or another. The man knows how to sit back and wait his turn. Then when a fighter gets too aggressive he'll counter and often do damage. It happened to Harding, it happened to Jones, and it happened to Woods. The only one whom it didn't happen to was Johnson, and that's simply because Johnsosn actually LIKES to swarm and uses a wait-and-retaliate style; Tarver won that rematch simply because he was forced to *gasp* show some effort. Dawson, besides having a tendency to be cracked solid in every fight that lasts over 4 rounds, has also shown to step on the gas a bit prematurely when he's in an offensive rhythm. I think the most likely scenario in this fight is Dawson jumping out to an early rounds lead, until he gets rocked by Tarver, and both men are a combination of punched-out (tired) and stunned; the second half of the fight ends up being high drama (but low volume) and the decision (if Dawson isn't stopped) makes every single person unhappy, including the winner who will claim they won the fight handily. So, the optimist (as in, what I think is best for the division overall) says Dawson by split decision, but the realist in me says Tarver TKO 9. *sigh* I always go with the realist, so my pick would be Tarver TKO 9.
Tarver has a sneaky southpaw left counter which works quite well, he throttled Chris Johnson with it, and was getting owned by Eric Harding until he cracked him with it and subsequently stopped him. I think he stepped on Griffin's foot and cracked him with the left as well and put him on his arse late in their fight.
I agree Antonio has Dawson's #. Remember I'm like 5-1 on my picks and called Byrd/George down to the round.:mj:
I'm gonna go with Dawson on this one. I like his consistent punch output as well as accurate punching to get him the UD. Tarver's poor stamina will be a big factor late in the fight, BUT Dawson's awful recuperative skills are a huge liability. Tarver WILL catch Dawson in this fight - I see Tarver rocking Dawson hard and when that happens Dawson has the tendency to get hit even more while trying to throw back, but I don't think Tarver will be able to finish him.
Chad Dawson Looks like a Million Bucks UNTIL he Gets Hit...He's FAST & Likes to LEAD... REED Hates to Say it, but he Thinks Dawson's Style Plays RIGHT INTO Tarver's Hands...Tarver's @ his BEST when his Opponent INITIATES the Exchange... Tarver will B BEHIND, but REED Sees him Hurting then STOPPING Dawson...The Milkdud is like a COCKROACH...He REFUSES to Die... REED:shit:
