I have been saying the same thing since last year: this movie will be a YUUGE box office grosser. There might be other female comicbook characters that have bombed (mainly because they were AWFUL films), but there is only ONE Wonder Woman, a character as well known and loved as much as Superman. The incredible success of the lame 70s Wonder Woman tv series is a testimony to the goodwill toward this character. Plus she was the sole bright spot in that fiasco that was 'Batman v Superman: Yawn of Justice'. I predict that this film will make at least a minimum of $500 million worldwide. And if the movie turns out to be actually GOOD, it will make even more!

Dude, the "Wonder Woman" tv series was a ratings winner mainly among little girls who for the first time had a superheroine character they could idolize. You could see not only little girls, but also high school teenager girls doing the Wonder Woman spin. Lots of WW pjs and costumes were sold and posters were in almost every room. Yes, Lynda Carter was a YUUGE factor for guys, but to the female audience it was the character. Heck, even my wife who totally dislikes superheroes 7 scifi films is looking forward to this film and already told our two teenager girl that they too will have to watch this film. For the feminists and snowflakes watching this film is a DUTY. Also in countries were women are still subjugated, this film will be YUUGE among females who at least for 2 hours will feel empowered.

 

Marvel will be handing the Captain Marvel film to directors [COLOR=rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.8)]Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck. They also claim they're going to be hands off and let the directors do it their own way. We will see if that stays the case. [/COLOR]

 

I am not a big fan of female Captain Marvel tbh. I used to collect the original Captain Marvel comicbooks when they first came out but lost interest when they turn him way more powerful than he originally was and then the gay costume change. as the comicbook sales fell dramatically the best thing Marvel did was to kill him. That should have been the end of it. But then they came with the female version and when the costume and name changed to Ms Marvel, the new sexy version propelled the sales. then they went back to a name change to Captain Marvel with yet another outfit change and currently there is a new Muslim teenager Captain Marvel which is complete SHIT!:bangh:

Plus, if the success of Beauty & The Beast is anything to use as a ´gauge´, it will appeal to the LGBT crowd as well, being as Wonder Woman was a huge gay ´icon´...

 

However some are using 'Ghost in the Shell' epic bomb as an indicator that WW will be the lowest grossing DCEU film to date as Gal Gadot is a lesser known than Scarlett Johansson. But, hey the last Resident Evil bombed here but was a HUGE blockbuster in the rest of the world! So it is a real gamble for many.

Gal Gadot may be less known than Johansson but Wonder Woman is more well known than GitS. So the property may be more valuable than the actor playing it and could make the difference in attendance sales.

When 'Superman: The Movie' was announced starring unknown soap opera & theater actor, 24 year old Christopher Reeve, many people predicted it will flop. The studio hired Marlon Brando & Gene Hackman merely to have recognizable & box office proven actors to compensate for Reeves unproven screen charisma. But People didn't flocked to buy tickets around the block to watch Brando or Hackman: they came to watch SUPERMAN! The brand was what sell as was proven in that first film and its sequel.

 

Wonder woman would make a LOT of money. I have no doubt. Everyone is curious to see it.

 

It will also help that there won't be much competition going up against it.

What you say has merit on paper, no doubt. But this is about the intangibles, if you will. I think people are genuinely intrigued with what they can do with Wonder Woman and I think it'll be the best DCEU film to date.

If it sucks and it's a bust...well that'll be the end of the DCEU. But I think it'll save the franchise

I for one am looking forward to seeing how they handle paradise island and the amazons. Plus it's a pretty good cast on the Anazon side of things with Robin Wright and Connie Nielsen as Antiope and hippolyta respectively

Marvel is making a mistake by bringing the SJW version of Captain Marvel. When the character was the sexy kitten that spawned a thousand cosplay copycats they had a hit in their hands. What they did with it? changed the whole thing, made her look and talk like a fucking lesbian and removed any hint of sexiness from her outfit plus made her personality damn boring & politically-correct. Sales went down, but they keep shoving this version...now as a Muslim girl!
