    Maybe he is trying to talk the guy into a situation where guys are happy to fight him and thus he gets fights he might not otherwise have gotten.

    Great point that shouldn't be overlooked. That would make the best sense.

    This manager is remarkable because he is really trying to do right by this kid. I don't know why more people don't see that frankly. Ponce has a family that loves him. He can't take a beating every fight at that weight class. The culmulative effect of the punches will harm him. He just gets hit too much.

    Most managers, like Stewart go out of their way to protect their good name... For example, Taylor's lack of a jab is not STewart's fault! God forbid he should take ultimate responsability for seeing Jermaine through. This manager is trying to get Ponce wise to the big picture and in the big picture Ponce will get injured if every fight of his he takes lots of shots.
