RIP Truly a sad day for the sport. I loved to watch him fight. Great warrior who didn't calculate before taking a fight, a rare quality nowadays.
Sad and shocking to have this staring me in the face as soon as I logged on this morning. R.I.P. DIEGO CORRALES. And thanks for a bunch of fights that I won't soon forget.
Personally, I don't think he should get in. Corrales was a good fighter, even very good at one point, but the guy was never a great. On the other hand seeing how this is the IBHOF he'll probably get in. Boxings Hall Of Fame is a joke for the most part. Fighters like Zab Judah and Arturo Gatti will probably make it in as well.

When I saw people with RIP Diego signatures in othe rthreads, I thought they were joking about how his career was over. I can't believe it, he was only 29.
I agree with you, it's a horrible tragedy, but he shouldn't get in just because he died young, and honestly, his career was not HOF worthy.
I don´t know, he was the undisputed lightweight champion of the world. He had many memorable fights and he holds wins over the best fighters of his era Castillo, Casamayor and Freitas. Only Floyd he couldn´t touch. :dunno:

I understand why people say they didn't like him as a person, but imo he came across as a very sincere, very cool guy every single time I've seen him interviewed. I found it a lot easier to like him as a fighter after he got thrashed by Floyd, not because I thought he 'deserved it', but because then he wasn't so overrated by Max week in and week out. Guys who say uncategorically that they wouldn't hit a girl probably just haven't been around enough girls (or didn't have sisters). I do think most of us would never hit a pregnant girl in the belly, as Corrales allegedly did, but I never did hear his side of the story, only that there was another side to the story. His first fight with Corrales was simply an amazing fight. Everyone knew it at the time and that sentiment hasn't wavered at all. It's a fitting testament to why we are all boxing fans.
This sucks! I can't believe it! I woke up this morning and tuned to espn news and the first thing I always look at is the breaking news section. When I read that Boxer Diego Corrales dies it ruined my day. It took a while to sink in. What a loss for boxing.

True. But everybody is some kind of critic around here, judgemental as hell, despite a lot of the guys on this board getting into trouble with the law a sh*t load of times and then coming on here and bragging about it.
