<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE</div><div class='quotemain'> Dude that's the point......it's all out of your head, and none of it is scientific. For you to make claims against science, you must at least have a mimimal knowledge of the science you are attempting to discredit.

You don't appear to understand the cornerstones of evolutionary theory nor biology or astrophysics, so your arguments just appear to be random thoughts with little fact attached.

When you understand the basics of these sciences, you begin to see that their claims are far from outlandish and actually make a great deal of sense. When you understand the scientific method and how theories are published and tested, you begin to understand how thoroughly these theories are scrutinised by the scientific community.

Unfortunately, their conclusions go against your faith........and this is the key problem you are wrestling with. To admit the theory of evolution holds more merit than the theory of creation, to admit that the Earth is far more likely to be 4.5 billion yrs old rather than 6000yrs goes against your faith, which to you and others of deep religious persuasion would be unteneble.

And never the twain shall meet. [/b][/quote]
Replace MY numbers with some of your own, and let's do the math.

Show me how 4 Billion years would be long enough to support the formation of life from DEAD matter, Evolution from a single cell to MILLIONS of life forms...etc.

Please tell me...since you claim to "understand the cornerstones of evolutionary theory nor biology or astrophysics"

    Please.

And by the way....this has NOTHING to do with my religious faith, so stop bringing that into it. Let's argue logic with logic, science with science....lest I bring YOUR faith (in men) into this.

your the one who says 4 billion years isnt long enough, the burden of proof is on you pahtnah

"well shit, i cant explain how any of this happened so some omnipotent being musta created it all. Now i dont need to go to all the trouble of actually doing any research or scientific analysis, if I cant explain something I'll just say it musta been God."

    thats your line of thinking

christianity is all about the almighty dollar, all about power over the masses, atheism is prolly the smartest thing ever concieved, we arent the ones tossing our money in the collection jar every sunday, we arent the ones buying books and tapes and videos, we arent the ones wasting time going to sermons and meetings that preach HUMAN (not christian) lessons

i dont need to spend an hour or more every sunday to have someone tell me shit i already know and shit i already should be doing anyways

christianity has been one of the most corrupt organizations throughout history, and this is NO LIE, theyd go as far as to make up fake religious artifacts just to have people come and pay to see them, theyd BRIBE gullible believers into giving them money so that the minister would put in a good word for a dead relative as to not spend as much time in purgatory, they sold tickets to heaven

the shroud of turin, the shroud jesus was said to be buried in was a PHONY, the church made it so they could get people to come and pay money to see it, the thing was fucking dated to the 1500s!! (of course the methods are fallible right?? :YeahRight: , if you werent a coward and read the link youd know otherwise)

christianity, organized religion as a whole is a sham, its used by people to gain power over gullible folks like yourself who are willing to buy into that shit, shit back in the 17th, 18th centuries religion was more politics than it was anything

thats fine though, your gullible ass can continue to fund corruption and allow old perverts to fuck little boys in the ass, ill spend my sundays with a beer watching football

Know what guys? Some of you have been announcing the KO of Sly for the past ten pages but the guy is still here. I would suggest that instead of jumping for joy over his dead body, you make sure he is really dead because I still see him kicking.

I'm not sure how Christianity can be about the almighty dollar when Jesus told his own disciples not to carry any money, nor did he charge anybody for his works. When he fed 5000 do you think it was a $9.99 buffet or something? The problem is that people try to follow the orders of a pope or some other figure which claims to be a "chosen" leader from God. Just follow Jesus.

I could and would explain to you precisely why evolutionary theory and 4.5 billion year Earth age is accepted by the scientific community as the norm.

Unfortunately, all the available scientific evidence, accepted worldwide by the most eminent scientific minds, has already been dismissed by you and other creationist Christians as "nonsense"; :D

You see, that's the problem. It's staring you in the face but you refuse to accept it.

Radiometric dating - "Innacurate" according to Christians.
Mitochondrial and other DNA evidence - "God made DNA" according to Christians.
Archaelogical evidence - "Inconclusive" according to Christians
Biochemical evidence - "No irreducible complexity" say the Christians

    etc etc.

You see what I mean? You claim to embrace science, the problem is you embrace "junk science" like moondust theories while dismissing hundreds of years of accepted scientific evidence and studies as "nonsense" or "illogical".

Yet you accept the theory of Earth and it's creatures' creation by a mystical omnipotent being 6000 yrs ago, in the abscence of ANY evidence to support it, as "entirely logical" or "the default view".

If you still want to see the evidence, I'll gladly put it up here (in point form) to be arbitrarily dismissed as "nonsense". :D

But my suggestion is; stick to philosophy and theology, and leave science to those who comprehend it.

i dont think this is right. the pope, the archbishop of canterbury, and the dalai lama dont care about money or power. there may be some immoral peolpe practising under the guise of religion, but this is the same of any institution.

    Very naive post.

The Pope runs the world's RICHEST institution. No company or COUNTRY has more money than the Vatican.

ILLUMINATI (and I don't mean the poster)

i know how rich and influential religious institutions are, but simply on a personal level i just dont think that the pope wants money or power. he just doesnt seem like that sort of person. and from seeing alot of coverage of rowan wiliams the archbishop of canterbury (the head of the church of england), i'm sure he doesn't want money or power either. they only want money insofar as it allows them to spread their mesage to scoiety - and they want to do this out of generosity, not out of a wish to control.

    Don't PUNK out (pun intended).

Give me some realistic figures. I have been very GENEROUS with my figures and yet my calculations extrapolate to 1000s of billions.

Also, I do not believe the way I believe JUST because of the Bible. In fact I haven't wanted this to be a Bible discussion. I am countering logic with logic, mathematics with mathematics, science with science.

There is ALOT of empirical evidence for the existence of God, but you would simply close your mind to it because you claim to be a scientist....besides it's way beyond you at this point. Therefore I'll using a level playing field...science and logic, where we can both play on equal terms.

So bring some figures, let's discuss the complexity of DNA, of life, of matter....let's discuss how old the earth must be WITHOUT mention of Bible, creation story/ adam and eve, church....or any other of those distractions....IF you can.

sure i might be naive but i dont think i am. i know plenty of people in the church of england personally, and i trust them all. i dont think their organisation is headed by a man greedy for power and money.

sly, you have shown no fucking proof at all that God exists, empirical or otherwise

you spout off at the mouth, claim to combat logic with logic, math with math and science with science, its all bullshit

the logic you use is assinine, you make up numbers and extrapolate using some fucked up mathematics you pulled outta your ass and isnt accepted anywhere (plus its very assumptive), and i have no clue as to what form of science you are referring to that you use

forget it, you have no proof or hard facts that god exists, you point to holes in evolutionary theory as proof of gods existance, but that doesnt prove one iota that god exists, the only thing it proves is that we havent discovered everything yet or havent come up with a way to figure it out yet, but we will, we always have throughout history

Dude, science is RULED by the logic that "if there is something missing in the equation it MUST MEAN THIS".

For example, no one has seen other planets outside of our solar system but scientists have come to the conclusion that certain stars have planetary satellites simply because of the "wobble" in the star's movement. It is then taken as FACT that the said stars have planets.

Same thing with BLACK HOLES, WHITE DWARFS etc.

Same thing happens in biology and chemistry as well.

NOW....if there is NO OTHER EXPLANATION as to what CAUSED and CREATED the universe.....the default FACT is GOD.

    Why not be consistent?

Secondly it is a documented FACT that there has been spiritual activity on the planet since whenever (poltergeists, voodoo, demon possession ETC). If there is a spirit world...there is a God.

God's power has been manifested regularly since the 1906 asuza street revival. There have been some hoaxes, sure, but there have been alot of GENUINE manifestation of God's presence, with documented FBI evidence of some stuff that you would find unbelievable.

But besides all of that, LIFE itself proves the existence of God if you think about it.

Why do sexual animals get sexual urges? Why do these sexual urges naturally translate into intercourse which eventually leads to reproduction?

    Why?

There HAS to be an INTELLIGENCE behind all of that. Think about it? It had to be SOMEONE'S idea and design.

    HAD TO BE!!!

And don't give me this "Mother nature" crap either. "Mother Nature" is an ABSTRACT concept of nature itself....and cannot have an intelligence behind it of itself.

There had to be an INTELLIGENCE behind this process ALONE!!!!!!

Open your mind and think carefully about what I just said. I know you don't want to agree with the Incredible Sly  , but just forget that I said it and just consider the TRUTH of it.

    It's OBVIOUS!!

it's documented by untrustworthy sources. go to the scientific journals, run by people from respected institutions, and see what stock they put in those stories.
