A STAR is born...Donaire made Phillipines PROUD tonight.

Montiel came in with great conditioning. Only a few get up from a punch like that. He fought like hell to get up, refusing to stay down and go to sleep.

No, his insight was first rate as always.

His Christian agenda was annoying, and has no place on the telecast.

Agreed. He simply looks his age at most, he's no longer in his 20's, simple as that.

I think it might have been even nicer than Martinez/Williams.

Nah...Williams was out...thought he was dead. Montiel got up at 9 but was clearly out of it. It's r are you see a guy completely OUT. Like Roy Jones out...like Ricky Hatton OUT.

The Martinez KO is still tops but this one gives it a run for its money.

This KO reminded me ALOT of Curry-McCrory. Both picture perfect left hooks... just as McCrory was out from the left hook and didnt need the extra right hand... so too was Montiel gone from the beautiful hook.

Montiel's attempt to get up was superhuman. Williams was out COLD before he hit the canvas.

Martinez circled and fired a straight left where Donaire's was more of a hook.

To ask which ko was nicer, it's like asking to choose between Cameron Diaz and Jennifer Aniston.

If Donaire moves to 122, I think he would fight Wilfredo Vasquez and knock him the fuck out. Donaire would be best off staying at 122 though 126 is a lot tougher.

Possibly the nicest shot in the slow-mo HD replay era.

I agree... even more impressive that Donaire almost seemed willing to take the right hand just to land his left hook with full impact. Sweet shot, still can't believe that Montiel beat the count - or was even given that opportunity. His epillectic-like spasms on the canvas should been the end the of the fight. Not sure why Russell Mora let it go on, but fortunately jumped in seconds later.

Still buzzing over it. I love the fact that he's in a prime position to only improve on his p-4-p standing and that he will undoubtedly force Arum's hand to keep the big fights coming. I think talks of JuanMa and Gamboa are way too soon (not from a talent standpoint, but that his body's not yet ready for that huge of a leap), but would love to see him face Agbeko-Mares winner (Mares) and then perhaps WV2 at 122 by years end or this time next year.

The ref was walking over Montiel and towards Donaire during the spasms. His back was turned. I felt the same way until I saw the replay.

Just an excellent display all around.

Awesome win for Donaire. Props to Montiel for even getting up from that.
