    Agreed.

Not to freak out Cdogg, but a Riggo in his mid 20's would have been the closest thing we've seen to "Whitaker with a punch".

There's NO case in the world to be made for Donaire winning more than 3 rounds. 3 at the VERY MOST. 10-2, 11-1 is more like it.

I had it 11-1. The ONLY round Donaire won in my book was the round he scored the KD.

Other than that, it was a completely one sided schooling.

If Donaire had gotten the nod, it would have been the worst big fight robbery in history.

Chavez was more competitive against Whitaker than Donaire was last night.

Riggo was already top 10 P4P going in.

The win, and the one sided nature of the win places him right up there with Floyd, Ward, and Martinez.

Yeah, he definitely leaves some to be desired, despite his skill brilliance.

Still, he was fucking Donaire up by the end. Had there been another 2 rounds left, I don't think big ears would have lasted.

Superb overall performance from Rigondeaux. He's definitely up there in the P4P rankings after that win. His footwork, timing and movement throughout was incredible. Donaire just couldn't work him out.

Can't say I was exactly mesmerized by this fight like some of you fella's.

Yes, Rigo nearly whitewashed Donaire, but I gotta say, I really detest slick boxers who do it outside of the pocket like Rigo. There was a lot of 1 or 2 punch pot-shotting and ducking almost to the canvas and literal running.

Donaire really needed to go in there and rough him up like he tried to do in the 10th round, he just doesn't have the constitution to do it consistently, apparently.

We saw why in the last round when Rigo nearly blew out Donaire's eye socket. Guys got talent but I can't say I like his style. I agree that Pac of a few years ago would have matched up better against Rigo.

    I guess I'm what Max Kellerman would call........"a non-purist".

I had him sharing the first, winning the 4th on the basis of rubbering Rigo with a hook and I gave him 10-8 in the 9th (?). I gave everything else to Rigo.

    117-111

I wonder if anybody actually noticed that Rigo landed in the single digits for about half the fight, and I don't think he landed more then 13 punches a round until the final round.

Donaire's not exactly hard to find.

Bad match-up for Donaire, but I'm not exactly looking forward to watching Rigo fight again.

Right. I've even thought a few times that he's deliberately shipped a couple to bait a guy into getting comfortable throwing a shot. Not last night, but against lesser guys. Taking risks is part of his style, but it's for a good reason.

If he'd gone for a KO last night he probably would have been KO'd himself. He fought the way he needed to.

So this is what amateur fights would look like if they fought 12 rounds.

Dont get me wrong, I love fighters with great defense. Starling and Whitaker are among my favorites, but there is just something disappointing about watching a guy try to win a fight by landing 6 punches in a round while only letting his opponent land 3.

The better fighter won and his display of skill was great but it just feels a little flat.

    Agree

I don't mind watching many defensive minded fighters if they are spending some time in the pocket. Rigo is either very briefly in and out, or in, crouched 3 inches off the canvas and out. He took off in a sprint more then once.

put rigondeaux in with a more aggressive opponent and you have an exciting fight. Donaire has never had the most exciting style either. its too bad poonsawat was not cleared medically because he is an ideal type foe to make for an entertaining fight with rigondeaux.

Im sure top rank wouldnt mind taking a flat fee to back out of the promotion and lend rigondeaux to golden boy for a mares fight. the dildo recipient probably isnt keen on making that rematch in the pro ranks after rigondeaux already schooled the kid with headgear.

definitely hear what you're saying but OTOH his footwork is pretty fascinating to watch. In a 'how the hell is he doing this' sort of way.

Yeah true. He's like Zahir Raheem, if Zahir Raheem didn't trip over his own feet every time he threw a punch.

Except that I wanted Rigo to win, this is also what I was expecting. Donaire ended up not even being able to lead until the last couple of rounds, though. He just was befuddled.

    I thought Donaire looked huge.

I scored it the same as Lederman, but I had a couple of rounds that I thought were close...2nd and...5th?

Very hard to see how the two judges had it 8-4 and 7-5.

He would do the same thing to a CLEAN Pacquiao, but with the needles and all, the fight never would have happened.

I think Pacquiao was clean when he was Rigo's size.

doesn't freak me out at all, man

Obviously, Riggo is stylistically different than Pernell, but he is no doubt a master boxer

    exactly

this is what is being overlooked

Rigo fought a perfect fight... trying to be "exciting" would have been fighting Donaire's fight

And I don't think there is anything wrong with Donaire's constitution, either... he is not a pressure fighter, it is not his talent...

its funny hearing all twitter talk about how rigondeaux is boring. i wonder how whitaker wouldve been received in this social media age.

lets not pretend like whitaker stayed in the pocket from the outset of his career. wasnt really until he got with shields that he began to do so consistently. rigondeaux still has only 12 fights as a pro.
