Double, I took the liberty of uploading Esparrgoza's title-defense against Pascual Aranda on my YT page. It was once on there, but disappeared, so I restored it. Quality performance by Esparragoza against a game, but outmatched opponent. And oh yeah, I also uploaded Esparragoza's fight with Cruz. It's in two parts, but it's much better quality than the version that was previously on YT. So the Aranda fight is also in two parts, the first part starts after the Cruz fight, at approx 20 mins in. Enjoy:
Awesome! Thanks man. Will be sure to check out. Some fights I've watched on youtube in the last few weeks: Foreman/Qawi ODH/Mosley II Holyfield/Stewart I Sanders/Wlad Holyfield/Madelone (major schooling) Hilton/Benitez Leija/Bojado Leija/Robinson Moorer/Stewart
I have been watching more Sibson. Some of those Brit fighters of the 1970's were skilled. I used to cycle through the Finnegan brothers hometown every day. Very hard drinkers both of them, it sort of killed them in the end, that and Foster/Hagler. That whole 1970's up to about 1983 scene is largely a mystery to me, I blame Ali and Ray Leonard. Esparragoza moves very naturally, commentator immediately picked up on the same thing as me- that fast uppercut. Moves effortlessly.
Sibson had booming power. The only British middleweight who was a bigger hitter was Benn, And Esparragoza was quality. Good enough that I wonder how he'd do against the 90s foursome of Naz/MAB/Morales/Marquez. Or, during his era, how he'd do against Nelson, Fenech, and McGuigan.
Ohh I forgot, Josh Taylor also fights on Saturday, and he's fighting a very dangerous opponent. Apinun Khongsong. Kid can bang!
He'd have beaten McGuigan perhaps albeit I always felt the heat beat McGuigan in Nevada. One of the stupidest boxing decisions ever made.....he could have had that fucking guy in Dublin and still made £1m and made him fight barefoot in the snow.
Taylor is no Whitaker on defense, and his skin marks up, so to see him in with a legit banger is always interesting. We've seen bigger upsets.
