Someone checked Boxrec instead of actually watching the fights Palomino had in 1979. Jim Brown had one foot out of the sport in 1965. Does that mean he wasn't the best running back in the NFL?

If there is a boxrec ranger around here, it's you. I occasionally get names wrong, but it's because I'm not a big boxrec ranger like you are.

Palomino struggled against Muniz, got schooled by Benitez (don't give a shit what the judges say), and then Duran beat him and he was gone for almost 20 years.

Face the facts, Duran at 147 didn't do shit and is best known for "NO MAS".

Tito has heart and has displayed that numerous times, Duran quit in a fight he was competitive in. This is a no brainer.

What does that have to do with how good Palomino was in 1979? Agreed, a split decision wasn't warranted, but Palomino was a clever boxer who could have been competitive into the 1980s had he stayed in the sport.

Tito never bitched out of a fight when he was getting beat. Duran has shown he's willing to throw the tampon in to keep his pussy from getting raped.

What does that have to do with Carlos Palomino in 1979?

The thread is about comparing Duran to Tito, not about Trinidad, himself.

We're talking prime vs. prime at 147, not at 154.

He was at his prime in the DeJesus rubber match, and he was at welterweight shortly thereafter. The Duran that beat Sugar Ray Leonard would be no match for Trinidad. It would actually be an embarrassment for Trinidad.

Duran would win because he was better. But because of the styles, Tito would not look bad and would be very much in it for much of the fight. Duran would get rocked on some occasions here. And Trinidad would hit him harder than most did at that weight. That said..

Duran via competitve but clear decision win or a possible late stoppage.

As we should all know by now, Duran is overrated.

Anyway, Duran may have beaten Ray Leonard who is significantly better than Felix Trinidad, but styles makes fights.

Leonard didn't hit as hard as Trinidad and fought Duran's fight that night. Trinidad LOVES a guy to come at him, and a smaller guy like Duran coming at him like that will be destroyed.

I don't care about the fact that Hagler couldn't stop Duran at 160, Tito hit harder than Hagler.

    Trinidad KO 6
